Quentin Johnston Likely To Lose WR2 Role Quickly, Become Chargers WR3
Quentin Johnston's short career has been plagued by horrendous drops and terrible consistency, problems reminiscent of his college days. Though he's a big and highly athletic receiver, he struggles in contested catch situations, is unable to be a "hands-catcher", instead opting to catch with his body as much as possible, and rarely made big plays except when he was schemed wide open by the offense. As a result, the Chargers appear to have given up on Johnston having a premier role in the passing game, having drafted WR Ladd McConkey in 2024 and WR Tre Harris in 2025, both in Round 2 of their respective drafts. McConkey and Harris should be the one-two punch of this offense, with Johnson serving as the third wideout, leaving little room for him to get significant volume in a run-heavy offense. With such low upside, it's hard to imagine Johnston having a true breakout season in 2025.
