Pat Freiermuth Still In Concussion Protocol
3 years agoPittsburgh Steelers rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth (head) remains in the concussion protocol and missed practice for a second straight day on Thursday. Freiermuth isn't on the right track to play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he still has one more day to get onto the practice field. When healthy, he's been a fine low-end TE1 while developing nice chemistry with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, especially in the red zone. In his rookie season, Freiermuth is tied for fourth among all tight ends with seven touchdowns. If he is inactive in Week 16, Zach Gentry would be in line for starting duties with Eric Ebron still on Injured Reserve, but Gentry wouldn't be a realistic fantasy option. Receivers Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and James Washington would be the biggest beneficiaries of a Freiermuth absence.
