Panthers Want To See Cam Newton Work Out In March
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers want to see quarterback Cam Newton (foot) work out on the field in March when he's healthy, according to a source. They would like to evaluate him to make a decision on his future. "They want to at least give him a shot, see where he's at," the team source said. "Then we'll see what happens." If the Panthers trade Newton, they'll save $19.1 million on the salary cap. Even if the team drafts a QB in 2020, it's not far-fetched to think that they let him play out the final year of his deal. The 30-year-old played in just two games in 2019 and has also had shoulder issues recently, drastically dropping his appeal in fantasy leagues. Newton could bounce back as a QB1, but many owners probably won't touch him as anything more than a backup after last season's disaster.
