Christian Encarnacion-Strand Hits Grand Slam on Wednesday
Christian Encarnacion-Strand had a big day in his team's Wednesday doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox. After picking up just one hit in the first game, a Reds loss, Encarnacion-Strand went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in the nightcap to help lead Cincinnati to an 8-4 win. Encarnacion-Strand's grand slam was a clutch one as it erased a 3-0 Red Sox lead in the seventh inning. The veteran is now hitting .206 with six homers, 13 runs, and 19 RBI across 126 at-bats this season. He will need to hit more consistently to be considered a fantasy option going forward.Source: MLB.com
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Josh Lowe Homers on Wednesday
Josh Lowe had a productive day in his team's 6-5 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Lowe went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the win. The veteran outfielder tied the game at 2-2 with his solo blast in the sixth inning, a shot that traveled 413 feet with an exit velocity of 107.3 MPH. Lowe is now hitting .269 with six homers, 29 runs, 15 RBI, and six steals across 156 at-bats this season. He has been struggling to find his power stroke after hitting 20 homers back in 2023, with only 16 dingers since, but he at least has theoretical 20-homer, 20-steal potential in fantasy if he can get his bat going again.Source: MLB.com
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Ryan Pepiot Strikes Out Nine, Earns Win on Wednesday
Ryan Pepiot notched a quality start in a 6-5 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Pepiot allowed two runs on four hits over six innings of work while striking out nine and walking three in the win. He led the game with 14 swinging strikes while improving his record to 6-6 on the season. Pepiot has been a reliable fantasy starting pitcher, posting a 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 101 strikeouts across 102 1/3 innings of work on the season. The veteran has allowed more than three earned runs in a start just twice all season and will look to keep it going in his next outing, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers.Source: MLB.com
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Riley Greene Homers Twice, Drives in Six on Wednesday
Riley Greene had a big day in the first game of his team's Wednesday doubleheader with the Washington Nationals. Greene went 2-for-5 with two homers and six RBI in the contest, an 11-2 win over Washington. He did not start in the second game of the doubleheader but entered as a pinch-hitter and ultimately went 0-for-2. Greene kicked off the scoring in Game 1 with a three-run homer in the first inning and later added another three-run shot to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead in the fourth. The veteran outfielder is having a breakout season, hitting .296 with 21 homers, 49 runs, 69 RBI, and one steal across 328 at-bats. He has been on fire of late, batting .383 with seven homers and 21 RBI over his past 15 contests. Greene has forced his way into the conversation as a must-start in fantasy outfields going forward.Source: MLB.com
Detroit Tigers outfielder Nick Pivetta Picks Up Win, Six K's on Wednesday
Nick Pivetta notched a quality start in the first game of a Wednesday doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. Pivetta allowed one run on seven hits over six innings of work while striking out six and walking none in the 6-4 win over Philly. The veteran hurler improved his record to 9-2, to go along with a 3.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 107 strikeouts over 97 innings of work. Pivetta struggled a bit in June with a 4.71 ERA, so his excellent start on Wednesday was certainly a welcome sight. He will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is set for Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.Source: MLB.com
San Diego Padres right-hander Joey Ortiz Hits Grand Slam on Wednesday
Joey Ortiz had a productive day in his team's Wednesday doubleheader against the New York Mets. In the first game of the twin bill, Ortiz went 1-for-4 with a grand slam. He later went hitless but added an RBI in the second game. Ortiz broke a 2-2 tie with his first career grand slam in the sixth inning, a shot with an exit velocity of 101.8 MPH. The veteran shortstop is having a tough season, hitting just .208 with six homers, 34 runs, 26 RBI, and nine steals across 269 at-bats. Ortiz will need to show more consistency at the plate to be considered as a fantasy option outside of the deepest leagues.Source: MLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Freddy Peralta Picks Up Six Strikeouts in Quality Start on Wednesday
Freddy Peralta notched a quality start in a 7-2 win over the New York Mets in the first game of a Wednesday doubleheader. Peralta allowed two runs on two hits over six innings while striking out six and walking two to earn the win, improving his record to 9-4 on the year. Overall, Peralta has a 2.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts across 99 innings of work on the season. Peralta has been extremely consistent in 2025 as he has only allowed more than three runs in a start once all year. He will look to keep it going in his next start, which will be against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.Source: MLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Yandy Diaz Launches Two-Run Home Run on Wednesday
Yandy Diaz had a big day in a 6-5 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Diaz went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to help send the Rays to the win. The veteran slugged a two-run shot to break a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning, a blast that traveled 415 feet with an exit velocity of 113.1 MPH. Diaz is putting together another productive season for the Rays, hitting .291 with 14 homers, 39 runs, 49 RBI, and three steals across 327 at-bats. He has been red-hot of late, hitting .407 with four homers and eight RBI in his past 15 contests. With a decent shot at beating his previous career-high of 22 homers set in 2023, Diaz is a solid fantasy infielder in all formats.Source: MLB.com
Tampa Bay Rays DH Spencer Jones Slugs Homer Wednesday
Spencer Jones went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and two walks in a 9-8 win over Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Jones was promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 27 and has torn the cover off the ball. He already has three homers in four games and also chipped in a stolen base. A cause for concern would be that he has already struck out seven times in 19 plate appearances. The 24-year-old performed well previously at Double-A Somerset, hitting .274/.389/.594 with 16 homers and 10 stolen bases in 208 plate appearances. Jones saw a similar issue, though, as he struck out 33.7 percent of the time in Double-A, which is very concerning. The 6'7" outfielder has a tantalizing skillset, but the hit tool may hold him back. Given his flaws and the strength of the Yankees' outfield, it seems unlikely that Jones makes it to the majors this season.Source: MiLB.com
New York Yankees outfield prospect Juan Brito Slugs Grand Slam Wednesday
Juan Brito went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 13-0 victory against Triple-A Toledo. Brito doesn't have a ton of power, but he was able to deliver his fourth homer of the season tonight in grand fashion. His season line of .259/.361/.469 is pretty similar to his .256/.365/443 line at Triple-A in 2024 in 652 plate appearances. He is striking out more this season and isn't on pace to match his 21 home run output he had last year. The 23-year-old has a solid floor with his good approach and contact skills, but the ceiling may be lacking. There's a solid chance we see Brito in the majors at some point this season, in which case he would be a decent deep league or AL-only add.Source: MiLB.com
Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Jeff Hoffman Locks Down 20th Save
Jeff Hoffman finished off an 11-9 win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday for his 20th save of the year. Hoffman allowed a two-out infield single to Trent Grisham, but he retired the other three hitters he faced and fanned one in a scoreless, 14-pitch ninth inning. While the 32-year-old struggled earlier in the season, he allowed just two earned runs over 10 frames in June and has gotten off to an auspicious start in July. Hoffman's ERA has dropped from 6.04 to 4.71 since the beginning of June, while he also boasts 50 strikeouts against 10 walks and a 1.07 WHIP in 36 1/3 innings.Source: ESPN
Toronto Blue Jays closer Max Muncy Exits With Apparent Knee Injury
Max Muncy (knee) had to leave the team's game against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday after suffering an apparent left-knee injury in the sixth inning. Muncy required help getting off the field after tagging out Michael A. Taylor on a steal attempt. Taylor's helmet appeared to hit Muncy's knee on the play. The Dodgers replaced Muncy with Enrique Hernandez. They should have more on Muncy's status after the game. Muncy went 0-for-2 before departing, but the 34-year-old has been on a tear for several weeks. He's slashing .250/.375/.457 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI over 315 plate appearances.Source: Dodgers Nation
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Kyle Harrison Gives Up Three Runs in Four Innings on Wednesday
Kyle Harrison took the loss on Wednesday, as he allowed three runs on five hits and two walks against Triple-A Syracuse. He struck out two. Harrison was a bit shaky again in his second start with Worcester as he allowed two homers. The 23-year-old again relied on his fastball in this outing, throwing it 47 percent of the time. However, it wasn't as effective as usual, inducing just two whiffs on 19 swings. His secondary offerings picked up some of the slack, though, with 8 whiffs on 18 swings total. Harrison has been looking for answers outside of his fastball, so while the surface numbers for this outing are not ideal, that is a bright spot to point to. Harrison will likely be back in the majors to make his Red Sox debut sometime this summer.Source: MiLB.com

Aroldis Chapman Extends Scoreless Streak, Secures 15th Save
Aroldis Chapman converted his 15th save of the year in a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Pitching in the continuation of Tuesday's suspended game, the left-hander tossed a perfect, 12-pitch ninth inning with one strikeout for his 350th career save. Chapman, who has gone 15 straight appearances without yielding an earned run, is showing no signs of slowing down in his age-37 campaign. The seven-time All-Star has blown just one save while registering a 1.29 ERA with 51:10 K:BB and a 0.77 WHIP in 35 innings.Source: ESPN
