Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Chase Dollander (knee) is expected to go on the injured list and miss the remainder of the season, reports Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. This is after Dollander reported knee soreness after Monday's start and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The exact injury diagnosis isn't yet clear, but it's enough to bring his rookie season to a close. The 23-year-old struggled in his first taste of the majors, posting a 6.52 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 82 strikeouts and 49 walks in 98 innings. Pitching in Coors Field will always be a struggle, but the former top prospect should get the chance to take a step forward in his sophomore year.--Jeremy Heist

Washington Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore (5-14) was effective in his return from the 15-day injured list on Thursday. After missing two weeks with shoulder inflammation, Gore tossed five innings of two-run, four-hit ball and logged four strikeouts against two walks in a 5-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. The Nationals eased Gore back in, pulling him after 78 pitches (50 strikes), and he got no help from the Nats' offense. The 26-year-old now has a 4.14 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 177:57 K:BB over 152 1/3 innings this season. He's scheduled to take on the division-rival Atlanta Braves in his next start on Tuesday. It'll be the first time Gore has faced the Braves this year.--Connor Byrne

Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers impressed in his return from a lat injury on Thursday. Making his first start since June 7, Weathers held the Washington Nationals scoreless over five innings of five-hit ball and logged four strikeouts against no walks on 68 pitches (46 strikes). Weathers picked up the win in a 5-0 game, improving to 2-1 on the season. Injuries have limited the 25-year-old to just six starts in 2025, but he has held his own across 29 2/3 innings. Weathers has registered a 2.73 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP, 23 strikeouts, and eight walks. He's slated to make his next start at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. While that's a challenging venue for pitchers, the Rockies' .671 OPS versus lefties ranks a lackluster 21st in the majors.--Connor Byrne

Baltimore Orioles reliever Keegan Akin collected his fifth save of the year in a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. The left-hander struck out one in a scoreless, one-hit ninth inning and threw 13 pitches (nine strikes). Akin, who has been sharing the closer role with righty Yennier Cano in the absence of the injured Felix Bautista (shoulder), has picked up two saves and allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 innings this month. He now owns a 3.14 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP, 54 strikeouts, and 30 walks over 57 1/3 frames this season.--Connor Byrne

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman dominated the Houston Astros in a complete-game shutout on Thursday. Gausman improved to 10-10 in the Jays' 6-0 victory, yielding a pair of singles while tallying nine strikeouts against one walk over 100 pitches (79 pitches). The 34-year-old has offered elite production across his past three starts, having combined for 24 innings of two-run, eight-hit ball with 22:2 K:BB. His ERA is down to 3.44 with the majors' 10th-best WHIP (1.00), 171 strikeouts, and 45 walks through 177 1/3 innings. Gausman is scheduled to make his next start against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Rays got the better of Gausman in their first meeting on May 15, when they teed off on him for six earned runs on 10 hits (including three homers) in 5 2/3 frames.--Connor Byrne

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is dealing with vertigo and has been scratched from the team's lineup against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Chris Taylor will take Adell's place in right field and hit fifth versus right-hander Bryce Miller, while Luis Rengifo will play second base and bat sixth. After Adell missed the Angels' first two games this week with vertigo, he felt well enough to play in their 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Adell went 0-for-3 in that game, but this has been a career year for the former top prospect. Adell has slashed .242/.304/.504 with 35 home runs, 94 RBI, 57 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 516 plate appearances in his age-26 season. Fantasy managers should check back on Friday to see if he returns to the Angels' lineup.--Connor Byrne

The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have reinstated right-hander Alek Manoah (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo. To make room for Manoah on the 40-man roster, the team designated infielder Orelvis Martinez for assignment. Manoah is finally healthy after undergoing hybrid Tommy John surgery in June 2024, but with no openings in the Blue Jays' rotation, he'll continue to work in the minors. The former All-Star, 27, made five starts with Buffalo on his rehab assignment and recorded a 3.09 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP, 18 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 23 1/3 innings. Manoah may finish the season there, but with Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and Shane Bieber potentially hitting free agency over the winter, he should have a chance to rejoin Toronto's rotation next spring.--Connor Byrne

San Diego Padres starting pitcher JP Sears is expected to be recalled to make a spot start against the Colorado Rockies at some point this weekend. The plan is to bring Sears up for a spot start so the regular starters can get extra rest. The 29-year-old has only made three starts with the Padres since being dealt from the Athletics at the deadline. The southpaw holds a 5.52 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and a 8/3 K/BB ratio across 14.2 innings of work with San Diego. Sears remains a risky streaming option even against a shaky Rockies lineup.--Andy Webb

Miami Marlins infielder Otto Lopez is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals. This is a rare off day for Lopez who has started in every game since August 23. Lopez has been hot with the plate lately, going 7-for-15 with two home runs and six RBI over his last four games. He's certainly someone worth considering snagging off the waiver wire at the moment given his hot streak. Maximo Acosta will cover shortstop while Javier Sanoja takes over third base versus left-hander MacKenzie Gore on Thursday.--Andy Webb

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. This appears to be a routine rest day for Alvarez who has struggled at the plate lately. Since returning from injury, Alvarez is 2-for-18 with nine strikeouts. Hayden Senger will do the catching and bat ninth against left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Alvarez has good power upside, but isn't doing enough with the bat right now to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.--Andy Webb

Washington Nationals outfielder James Wood is out of the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins. This is a rare off day for Wood who hasn't sat out of a contest since August 17. It's probably a good time with left-hander Ryan Weathers on the mound for Miami. This will give the Nats a chance to play the matchup game here. Paul DeJong will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh during Thursday's game. Fantasy managers should check their lineups and adjust accordingly ahead of first pitch.--Andy Webb

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles is out of the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. This is now back-to-back games that Robles has been held out of the starting lineup. Before that, Robles was 5-for-17 across four games since returning from his suspension. Luke Raley will take over in right field and bat seventh versus right-hander Jose Soriano on Thursday. Robles hasn't done enough with the bat to warrant rostering in anything more than deep leagues.--Andy Webb

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Thursday. This news comes after Detmers was removed from Wednesday's outing due to elbow discomfort. His 2025 season is now basically over, with only a few weeks left in the regular season. He'll finish his year with a 3.96 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and an 80/25 K/BB across 63 2/3 innings of work this season. In a corresponding move, right-hander Chase Silseth has been recalled to take over the active roster spot. Detmers can safely be dropped in all fantasy formats.--Andy Webb

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe (shoulder) has been playing through a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, manager Aaron Boone said on Thursday. The Yankees thought it was an old injury that Volpe could play through when they initially got his MRI results back in May, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Volpe has aggravated his shoulder a few times since then, including most recently this past weekend. The 24-year-old suffered the injury back in May while diving for a ball at shortstop, but he never went on the injured list and has been playing through it. It has affected him big time at the plate, as he's hit just .182/.230/.368 since the start of June. Volpe received a cortisone injection in his shoulder and is out of action for the second straight day on Thursday. With Volpe potentially going on the IL, Jose Caballero could be the team's starter at short going forward.--Keith Hernandez

Detroit Tigers shortstop Zach McKinstry (back) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game in the Bronx against the New York Yankees due to a back injury that will cause him to miss a third straight start. Javier Baez is manning shortstop and will hit ninth for Detroit against Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler. McKinstry is considered day-to-day, with his next chance to return to the lineup coming in Friday's series opener in Miami against the Marlins. Baez has had a resurgent year at the plate in 2025 while becoming more of a utility man for the first-place Tigers, but he's hitting .143 (6-for-42) with no homers, three RBI, three runs and a 14:1 K:BB in 13 games since Aug. 1. He has one hit and three strikeouts in the first four games of September and has never faced Schlittler in his career.--Keith Hernandez
