Youssef Zalal suffered a unanimous decision loss to former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday. After putting together five straight victories since returning to the UFC in February 2024, Zalal was completely dominated in this bout as Aljamain constantly put pressure on Zalal, taking him down time and time again and outgrappling him for the majority of the fight. In 25 minutes of action, Zalal landed 35 significant strikes. This is the first major setback of Zalal's second Octagon stint. With the loss, Zalal dropped to 8-4-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic

Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling won his second fight in a row by beating Youssef Zalal via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday. This was a vintage Sterling performance, who overwhelmed Zalal, outgrappled and dominated him for most of the fight. In 25 minutes of action, Sterling landed six takedowns and 46 significant strikes. With the win, Sterling improved to 26-5 as a pro and is now 18-5 in the UFC. --Alen Kurbasic

Norma Dumont suffered a unanimous decision loss to Joselyne Edwards in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday. While Dumont had her moments, Edwards' heavier blows and the ability to dictate where the fight took place ultimately won Edwards the fight. In the end, the judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 in favor of Edwards. In 15 minutes of action, Dumont landed 51 significant strikes. In 15 minutes of action, Hernandez landed 50 significant strikes. This is a tough loss for Hernandez, who was, prior to this fight, on a four-fight winning streak. UFC newcomer Adrian Luna Martinetti was unsuccessful in his UFC debut as he suffered a unanimous decision loss to MMA veteran Davey Grant on the main card of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday. Martinetti had some success with his striking in the first two rounds, but he did a lot less damage than Grant. With a minute left in the fight, Martinetti took Grant down, pinning him against the fence and jumping on his back, but Grant quickly got back up and unleashed one final flurry before the final horn.
