Seahawks Release JT Woods
Source: NFL.com
The Seattle Seahawks released defensive back JT Woods on Monday, according to NFL.com. Woods, a former third-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Baylor, played his first two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, collecting eight tackles in 13 games. He has not appeared in a regular-season or postseason contest since 2023 but has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and Seahawks offseason rosters and practice squads. The 25-year-old hasn't been able to stick on a roster to this point, so he's unlikely to make an NFL impact anytime soon.Jazz Chisholm Jr. Moving Back to Second Base

Dolphins Interested in Asante Samuel Jr.
Source: Miami Herald
The Miami Dolphins have reached out to free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., according to the Miami Herald. The organization dealt All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for All-Pro and former Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick last week, so they are in the market for a veteran corner. Samuel was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida State by the Los Angeles Chargers. In 50 career games, he tallied 176 tackles (148 solo), 37 pass deflections, six interceptions, and one fumble recovery. A significant shoulder injury limited the 25-year-old to just four games in 2024.Nyheim Hines Seeking Return to NFL
Nyheim Hines, who suffered a torn ACL in a jet-ski accident nearly two years ago, is seeking a return to the NFL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The former fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 out of NC State posted 1,202 rushing yards, 1,778 receiving yards, and 18 total touchdowns through his first 81 career games with Indy and the Buffalo Bills. Hines spent last season on the Cleveland Browns roster but did not appear in a game after landing on the reserve/non-football injury list. The 28-year-old could have a tough path back toward meaningful NFL action, but his pass-catching skill set and veteran presence could make him an appealing acquisition for one of the 32 franchises.Source: Adam Schefter
Veteran free-agent running back Dak Prescott Expects to be Full-Go for Training Camp
Dak Prescott (hamstring) said he will be full-go in training camp, pending a final check-in with team doctors following a significant hamstring injury that cost him nine missed games in 2024. The veteran, entering his 10th NFL season, participated in all drills this offseason and should be more than ready to go by Week 1 of the 2025 campaign. Dallas added former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens this offseason, and Prescott is confident the two will get on the same page quickly. While Prescott's injury concerns are noteworthy, the 31-year-old could be undervalued at his mid-level QB2 average draft position. Dallas is likely to have another weak rushing attack in 2025, and Prescott should have several spike weeks due to the presence of Pickens and All-Pro wideout CeeDee Lamb.Source: NFL.com
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ajay Mitchell Posts 16 Points in Summer League Win on Monday
Ajay Mitchell finished with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal in 25 minutes during Monday's 89-78 Summer League victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Mitchell has now posted a total of 40 points across two Summer League contests. During his rookie campaign in 2024-25, the 21-year-old saw action in 36 regular-season contests, averaging 6.5 points on 49.5 percent shooting in 16.6 minutes per game. Despite seeing limited time on the floor in the playoffs, the Thunder obviously views Mitchell as a talented guard with a lot of potential, signing him to a three-year, $9 million contract this summer.Source: ESPN
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Manny Machado Collects Hit No. 2,000 in Loss
Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 home loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He added two singles. The fantasy stalwart reached on singles in the bottom of the first and fourth frames, though the latter was no ordinary base knock. It was Machado's 2,000th career hit, making him the seventeenth player in MLB history to accrue 2,000 hits and 350 home runs before the age of 33. He also blasted homer No. 15 on the season, in the bottom of the eighth. The 33-year-old has been stellar thus far, slashing a strong .293/.354/.484, and appearing in each of the Friars' 90 games.Source: ESPN
San Diego Padres third baseman Vasilije Micic Waived by Bucks
Vasilije Micic on Monday. Micic was recently traded to the Bucks from the Hornets for Pat Connaughton and two second-round picks. Now, as a free agent, the 31-year-old will likely search for other opportunities in the NBA and Europe. During the 2024-25 campaign, Micic saw action in 41 regular-season contests with the Hornets and Suns, posting averages of 6.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 rebounds.Source: Eric Nehm
According to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, the Milwaukee Bucks waived guard Jerar Encarnacion Steadily Progressing
Jerar Encarnacion (oblique) took batting practice at Oracle Park on Monday (Jul. 7) and will continue his hitting progression this week. The Dominican Republic native hit the injured list in mid-June with a left oblique strain after just eight games back with the team from a hand injury, but has seemingly progressed well. Oblique injuries can be problematic, so he'll need his body to respond well this week if he hopes to rejoin his teammates following the mid-summer classic. There's been no news of an official timeline, but if all goes well this week, he'll likely begin a minor league rehab assignment shortly thereafter. Encarnacion is slashing .136/.136/.182 through his first 22 at-bats.Source: MLB.com
The San Francisco Giants report that outfielder Brice Sensabaugh Logs 37 points in Summer League Win on Monday
Brice Sensabaugh posted 37 points (9-14 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 13-14 FT), four rebounds, two steals, and one assist during 27 minutes on the floor in a 112-111 Summer League victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. 15 of Sensabaugh's 27 points came in the fourth quarter. The 21-year-old has put together two impressive outings to open Summer League, registering a total of 56 points and 11 rebounds across 54 minutes. Sensabaugh is coming off his second NBA season, finishing with 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 71 contests in 2024-25.Source: ESPN
On Monday, Utah Jazz forward Giants to Re-evaluate Christian Koss After ASB
Christian Koss (hamstring) after the All-Star break. Koss landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a left-hamstring strain but is slated to begin baseball activities this week as he ramps back up. With Matt Chapman back at the hot corner for the Giants, teammates Casey Schmitt, Tyler Fitzgerald, and Brett Wisely have all spent time at the keystone in the 27-year-old's absence, and figure to continue to do so until he's ready to return. He's hitting a decent .265 with two homers, three doubles, 12 RBI, and 12 runs scored through his first 41 big-league games.Source: MLB.com
Per the team, the San Francisco Giants will re-evaluate second baseman Luis Garcia Fans Four in Rehab Outing
Luis Garcia (elbow) allowed one hit and one earned run, striking out four over two innings in his first rehab start as he battles back from an extended stay on the injured list. This was Garcia's first on-field action in over a year after Tommy John surgery in May of 2023 had robbed him of over two-plus seasons. The Venezuelan native is currently on the right track to rejoin the team at some point this season, although it is unclear in what capacity he'll pitch in when he returns. Houston likely takes it slow with Garcia, particularly due to the slew of setbacks he's faced while rehabbing, so we shouldn't expect a short assignment. Still, he'll be a welcome sight for fantasy managers and could be an impact arm if things go exceedingly well during his build-up.Source: Brian McTaggart
Houston Astros starting pitcher GG Jackson II Collects 27 Points in Summer League Loss
GG Jackson II finished with 27 points (11-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, and two blocks in 30 minutes during a 112-111 Summer League loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday. The 20-year-old missed the first half of the 2024-25 campaign due to a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot and was limited to just 29 regular-season appearances. He has since recovered and bounced back, posting 47 points in 58 minutes on the floor across two Summer League outings. After Summer League concludes, Jackson could see an uptick in minutes, providing the Grizzlies with an offensive threat off the bench during the upcoming 2025-26 season.Source: ESPN
Memphis Grizzlies forward Joey Ortiz Back in Tuesday's Lineup
Joey Ortiz will rejoin the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Ortiz had ridden the pine for the previous two outings as the Brew Crew lined up against right-handed pitching, but he'll return to the starting nine with southpaw Clayton Kershaw toeing the rubber. Teammate Andruw Monasterio had gotten the start at shortstop in their last two contests, and could become the preferred option against righties with Ortiz hitting an ugly .198 off of them. It's worth noting that Monasterio's average against left-handers (.231) is comparable to that of Ortiz (.235), but the latter shouldn't be in danger of losing his job just yet.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Ace Bailey Scores 18 Points in Summer League Victory
Ace Bailey finished with eight points (7-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds and three assists during 35 minutes in a 112-111 Summer League victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. Bailey rebounded after posting just eight points on 3-of-13 shooting during his first Summer League appearance on Saturday in Salt Lake City. After an improved performance during Monday's contest, the 18-year-old now has a total of 26 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists across 60 minutes in two Summer League outings.Source: ESPN
Utah Jazz forward Cam Schlittler Will Make MLB Debut on Wednesday
Cam Schlittler will make his MLB debut on Wednesday at home against the Seattle Mariners, according to Talkin' Yanks. The Yankees have an open spot in their rotation after losing Clarke Schmidt, who will likely require Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old Schlittler has thrown 76 2/3 innings across stints with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre so far in 2025. He's posted a 2.82 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts. Schlittler has a clear runway to becoming a regular in the Yankees rotation with Schmidt likely done for the season, and he's shown enough in the minors to be on the radar of fantasy managers in all formats.Source: Talkin' Yanks
New York Yankees pitching prospect Luis Gil to Begin Rehab Assignment on Sunday
Luis Gil (lat) will begin a rehab assignment on Sunday and be built up as a starter, according to Talkin' Yanks. The 2024 American League Rookie of the Year, Gil has yet to pitch for the Yankees in 2025 after straining his right lat in Spring Training. In 151 2/3 innings (29 starts) last season, Gil went 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 171 strikeouts. Walks are a major issue for Gil (12.1% BB rate), but he was able to work around it in 2024 by limiting hard contact (37% hard-hit rate allowed). Gil should be a target for fantasy managers when he makes his return, especially those in need of strikeouts.Source: Talkin' Yanks
New York Yankees right-hander Sean Manaea to Make Big-League Return on Sunday?
Sean Manaea (elbow, oblique) will make a rehab appearance on Tuesday night and if all goes well, could return to the big leagues on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals, per Mike Puma of the New York Post. Manaea would be in line to piggyback with Sunday's scheduled Mets starter Clay Holmes. Manaea has yet to pitch for the Mets in 2025 after suffering an oblique injury in spring training and then experiencing discomfort in his pitching elbow while rehabbing. Manaea was a big part of the Mets' rotation in 2024, going 12-6 in 181 2/3 innings (32 starts) with a 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 184 strikeouts. He should be a target for fantasy managers in all leagues where he wasn't stashed.Source: New York Post - Mike Puma
New York Mets starting pitcher Shane McClanahan to Begin Rehab Assignment
Shane McClanahan (triceps) has been sent on a rehab assignment to the Florida Complex League. The assignment brings McClanahan one step closer to a big-league return, which he has been working towards since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August of 2023. The talented left-hander was on track to return for the start of the 2025 season, but he injured his left triceps in spring training. Last time McClanahan was on the big-league mound he was a clear fantasy asset. In 115 innings pitched (21 starts) in 2023, McClanahan went 11-2 with a 3.29 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 121 strikeouts. Given that it's been nearly two full years since he last pitched, he'll likely need to throw a significant number of innings on his rehab assignment before the Rays activate him.Source: MLB.com
Tampa Bay Rays starter Bowden Francis Throws Side Session
Bowden Francis (shoulder) threw a side session at the team's complex in Florida and is "doing alright," according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Francis was placed on the 15-day injured list in mid-June with an impingement in his right shoulder. The 29-year-old had struggled in 64 innings (14 starts) before getting injured, posting a 2-8 record with a 6.05 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 54 strikeouts. Given that veteran left-hander Eric Lauer has given the Blue Jays solid work in Francis' absence, Francis may not even have a rotation spot when he regains full health. Either way, he'll likely need at least a couple of rehab outings before he's able to return to the big-league mound.Source: Sportsnet - Shi Davidi
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kodai Senga On Track to Start Friday?
Kodai Senga (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen on Wednesday. If all goes well, Senga will start Friday against the Kansas City Royals, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Senga was placed on the 15-day injured list in mid-June with a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring. The right-hander made a rehab start with Double-A Binghamton on July 5, throwing 3 2/3 innings and allowing three earned runs while walking two and striking out four. Before the injury, Senga was 7-3 in 73 2/3 innings (13 starts) with a 1.47 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts. His 3.14 xERA shows that he was outperforming his underlying numbers and could be in line for some ERA regression. Regardless, he's a must-start pitcher in all fantasy formats when he returns to the big-league mound.Source: New York Post - Mike Puma
New York Mets starting pitcher Cardinals Adjust Rotation Heading into All-Star Break
The St. Louis Cardinals are shifting their rotation around this week as they head into the All-Star break, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. For their three-game series against the Washington Nationals that begins on Tuesday,Kutter Crawford Undergoes Wrist Surgery
Kutter Crawford (wrist) underwent wrist surgery on July 2 to repair the stabilizing sheath in his right wrist, according to a report from MassLive's Christopher Smith. Crawford will "most likely" miss the remainder of the 2025 season as a result of the injury. It's been a completely lost year for the 29-year-old right-hander, as he began the year on the injured list with patellar tendinopathy in his right knee. The wrist injury occurred in an undisclosed off-field incident before he could start a rehab assignment for the knee injury. Crawford was a useful arm for Boston in 2023, going 9-16 in 183 2/3 innings (33 starts) with a 4.36 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 175 strikeouts. If he's able to work his way back to full strength in time for the 2026 season, he should be back on the radar of fantasy managers.Source: MassLive - Christopher Smith
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Tyler Johnson Retires After 13 NHL Seasons
Source: ESPN
Forward Tyler Johnson has announced his retirement from the NHL. He made 747 regular-season appearances in the league, recording 193 goals and 433 points. Johnson became a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2011. The 5-foot-8 forward also suited up for the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins. Boston signed him to a one-year contract in November, but Johnson was waived after just a month and a half, limiting him to nine appearances in 2024-25.Jack McBain Inks New Five-Year Deal with Mammoth
Source: ESPN
Utah Mammoth forward Jack McBain has agreed to a five-year, $21.25 million contract with the team. The two parties reached an agreement on a new deal a little over 24 hours after the team elected salary arbitration with the restricted free agent forward. With the 2024-25 campaign, McBain completed a two-year, $3.2 million contract. The 25-year-old hit new heights on the offensive end by producing 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 82 games and finished sixth in the league with 291 hits. Fantasy managers can expect similar production from McBain next season.Cam York Re-Signs with Flyers for Five Years
Source: ESPN
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Cam York has re-upped with the team, signing a five-year contract worth $25.75 million. He was a restricted free agent after completing a two-year, $3.2 million deal. York receives a big boost in salary with his new deal, but it could still end up being a favorable contract for the team, considering the rising salary cap. While the 24-year-old is seen as an important piece of the Flyers defense, York has only provided modest fantasy production during his time in the NHL. In 2024-25, he recorded 17 points (four goals, 13 assists), 65 shots, 126 blocks, and 60 hits in 66 appearances.Kobe Bufkin Cleared for Summer League Action
Kobe Bufkin (shoulder) is expected to return to the court in the Las Vegas Summer League. The 21-year-old saw his 2024-25 campaign end early due to a right shoulder surgery. Before he was shut down in December, Bufkin averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 assists in 12.4 minutes. Due to health issues, Bufkin has made only 27 appearances during his first two NBA seasons. According to Grant Afseth of RG, Bufkin "has impressed coaches and staff with his rhythm, athleticism, and poise in open runs" since he was medically cleared. While Bufkin is set for a comeback in Las Vegas, Afseth notes that he may only appear in a few games.Source: Grant Afseth
Atlanta Hawks point guard Jake Knapp Fits the Mold for Success at The Renaissance Club
Source: PGA Tour
Making his first career appearance this week in the Scottish Open, Jake Knapp is a player who checks a ton of boxes required to find success in North Berwick. He hits it a mile off the tee and is one of the more proficient long iron players this season. The former UCLA Bruin ranks 23rd in driving distance (311.4), 26th in proximity from beyond 200 yards (48' 4), and 38th in 3-putt avoidance (2.29%). The 31-year-old also ranks 20th in strokes gained putting (+0.362), but the putting surfaces this week differ in grass types and speed so much compared to normal PGA Tour events, which could make incoming putting stats hard to trust. Nevertheless, Knapp is a smash play at $9,000 on FanDuel.Vasilije Micic Agrees to Contract Buyout with Bucks
Vasilije Micic have agreed to a contract buyout. The 31-year-old gave up $6.1 million of his $8.1 million salary as part of the agreement, with the Bucks stretching the remaining salary on Micic's contract over the next three seasons. Micic is expected to resume his career in Europe. As a former EuroLeague MVP and top scorer, the Serbian guard should have no shortage of suitors. Micic joined the NBA in 2023-24 and appeared in 101 games over two seasons. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.9 assists in 19.4 minutes while playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, and Phoenix Suns.Source: Michael Scotto
