Shane McClanahan to Begin Rehab Assignment
Shane McClanahan (triceps) has been sent on a rehab assignment to the Florida Complex League. The assignment brings McClanahan one step closer to a big-league return, which he has been working towards since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August of 2023. The talented left-hander was on track to return for the start of the 2025 season, but he injured his left triceps in spring training. Last time McClanahan was on the big-league mound he was a clear fantasy asset. In 115 innings pitched (21 starts) in 2023, McClanahan went 11-2 with a 3.29 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 121 strikeouts. Given that it's been nearly two full years since he last pitched, he'll likely need to throw a significant number of innings on his rehab assignment before the Rays activate him.
