Kalif Raymond Could Factor into Lions' Offensive Plans in Week 1
Kalif Raymond is entering his fifth season in Detroit and appears to be the team's WR4 behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Isaac TeSlaa. Still, the 31-year-old brings a vertical element to the offense with his speed and has consistently found the field in his time in Detroit, albeit in a limited capacity. In eight career games against the Packers, Raymond has recorded 20 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown. He may eat into the Week 1 snap share of TeSlaa, who is playing on Sunday, but was limited in practice early in the week with an illness. Raymond should not be on the radar of fantasy managers, but he should be expected to see some work in Week 1 against Green Bay.

Chris Brooks Likely To See A Minor Depth Role In Week 1
Chris Brooks looks to maintain some of his preseason momentum as the Packers welcome the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Brooks played well in Green Bay's preseason games, notably ahead of fellow back Emanuel Wilson. However, it's Wilson that is listed ahead of Brooks on the Packers' official depth chart heading into the season opener against the Lions. That said, Brooks could have a situational role on third downs for the Packers at the outset of the season. Despite that role, Brooks would need multiple injuries to Josh Jacobs and Wilson for fantasy relevance. Keep Brooks on waivers for Week 1.

Jayden Daniels Looking To Build Off Historic Rookie Season in Week 1
Jayden Daniels is set to begin his sophomore season in Week 1 against the Giants after winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and leading his team to the NFC Championship game. Daniels typically comes off the board as QB3 in the third-to-fourth round of fantasy drafts, behind perennial MVP candidates Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. He is viewed in high esteem for good reason after the season he had. The LSU product joined 2024 Lamar Jackson as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for at least 3,500 yards and rush for at least 800 yards in a season. With significant additions to the offense like Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel Sr., and another year with the same offensive coaching staff, Jayden Daniels is primed to ascend even higher in 2025 and has the ability to break fantasy. Last season, the Giants' defense ranked middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. The defense projects to be much better this season with an incredibly stout defensive line after drafting Abdul Carter third overall, as well as an improved secondary after signing veterans Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo in free agency. Daniels is an obvious must-start in the season opener.

Packers D/ST Not A Recommended Start in Week 1 Against Detroit
Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and the rest of the Detroit Lions offense that is capable of 30+ points scored each game.

The Green Bay Packers' defense and special teams unit have a challenging task ahead of them as they will welcome the division-rival Detroit Lions to Lambeau Field for the Week 1 opener. The Packers' big news on the defensive side happened recently as they traded two first-round picks for star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, who should inject some ferocity into the Packers' defensive front. Green Bay is no slouch in their secondary either, with last season's free-agent splash Xavier McKinney handling the strong safety spot and young defenders like Evan Williams and Javon Bullard showing a ton of promise. The Packers D/ST isn't a recommended start this week, matching up with Source: RotoBaller
Brandon McManus In The Streaming Kicker Conversation For Week 1
Brandon McManus looks to bring his 2024 momentum into 2025 as the Packers welcome the Detroit Lions to Lambeau Field for Week 1. McManus, the recipient of a three-year contract extension in the offseason, was excellent last season for Green Bay. Missing just one field goal and making all his extra point attempts from his debut in Week 7 to the end of the season, McManus stabilized the kicking in Green Bay for the foreseeable future. The Packers in 2025 return most of the same core players on offense, and then added first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden, who could be the missing explosive piece of their offense. McManus could flirt with being a startable fantasy kicker in many leagues in 2025. Right now, for Week 1, he's on the outskirts of startable range for kickers, but in a game against the Lions that could see some offensive firepower, you can do much worse than starting McManus.

Christian McCaffrey "Feels Great" Amid Questionable Tag
Christian McCaffrey (calf) said he "feels great" despite carrying a questionable tag into Sunday's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The star running back was not listed on Wednesday's initial injury report but was downgraded to limited on Thursday. However, on Friday, McCaffrey took a further step back, as he was listed as a non-participant. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status as he could end up being a game-time decision. Last season, the 29-year-old appeared in only four games as he missed time due to Achilles tendinitis in both legs. If McCaffrey were to miss Sunday's game, fantasy managers should expect Brian Robinson Jr. to see the bulk of the carries while Isaac Guerendo moves up to the backup spot.

Tucker Kraft A Fringe TE1 Against Lions In Week 1
Tucker Kraft made a huge splash in his first season as the clear-cut starting tight end for the Packers and looks to parlay that momentum into a strong 2025 as Green Bay hosts the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Kraft scored seven touchdowns last season, but earned only 70 targets, which is tough to project into more target-earning going forward this season. That point is further emphasized by the Packers bringing in more target competition in first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden and Green Bay's preference to lean on the running game last season. Against the Lions, Kraft is a touchdown-dependent TE1 and comes in as TE10 in the latest RotoBaller ranks for Week 1.

Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman Both Cleared to Play in Week 1
Khalil Shakir (ankle) and Keon Coleman (groin) were both removed from Friday's final injury report and will be active on Sunday night for the Week 1 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. Shakir was a full practice participant all week, while Coleman upgraded to a full practice on Friday after he was limited the first two days of the week. When asked if he was concerned about playing on Sunday, Coleman said, "Nah." It won't be easy sledding on Sunday night for Buffalo's offense, but quarterback Josh Allen will have his top two receivers available in Shakir and Coleman. For fantasy purposes, both Shakir and Coleman should be viewed as more of WR4/flex options against a stout Ravens offense in a Bills offense that isn't afraid to spread things around. Many fantasy pundits are projecting a Year 2 breakout for Coleman.

Romeo Doubs Is A Low-End, Routes-Based Flex Play For Week 1
Romeo Doubs looks to start his 2025 season off with some positive momentum as the Packers host the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Doubs is coming off the 2024 campaign, where he ran the most routes on the team but finished WR12 or better only twice last season. Both of those games were games in which Doubs scored twice. An underlying theme for Doubs is major inconsistency in his target earnings, with just two double-digit target games but five games with fewer than five targets earned. Despite those holes in Doubs' game, he's still in the same spot as a starting outside receiver for the Packers in 2025. Against the Lions in Week 1, Doubs is a low-end flex play that's capable of a half-dozen targets and the occasional touchdown, but he's not a ceiling play by any means.

Matthew Golden With Major Fantasy Upside In Week 1
Matthew Golden looks to hit the ground running in Week 1 when the Packers host the Detroit Lions in their season opener. Golden, the Packers' first-round draft pick this past April, has been a bright spot in the Packers' training camp and in the preseason. Listed as a starter on the Packers' official depth chart, Golden has an excellent opportunity to become the top pass-catcher in short order for a Packers team that needs some juice at the position. The run game, namely Josh Jacobs, was the star of the show last season, especially for fantasy purposes. Golden is an immediate flex-worthy upside play against the Lions and comes in as WR43 in the latest RotoBaller rankings for Week 1.

Emanuel Wilson Set To Back Up Josh Jacobs In Week 1
Emanuel Wilson will back up starting running back Josh Jacobs as the Packers will host the incoming Detroit Lions in Lambeau Field for each team's Week 1 opener. Wilson played a bit behind Chris Brooks, but is listed as the primary backup to Jacobs on the latest Packers depth chart. Wilson's 2024 season saw him reach just over 100 carries in total, with an efficient 4.9 yards per carry on those totes. If something happens to Jacobs, where he cannot play, Wilson would be an upside RB2. With Jacobs healthy and ready to go for Week 1, Wilson is better left on the waiver wire for the regular season opener.

Isaac TeSlaa Looking to Carry Preseason Momentum into Week 1
Isaac TeSlaa was one of the team's breakout stars of the preseason and is expected to open the year as Detroit's WR3 alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. TeSlaa was limited in practice early in the week due to an illness, but he practiced in full on Friday and does not carry an injury designation into his Week 1 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. It's unknown what type of target volume TeSlaa will see right away, though it appears he's replacing veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick's 2024 role in the Lions offense. Patrick averaged under three targets per game with Detroit last season, but it's worth noting he scored two of his three touchdowns against Green Bay. TeSlaa should not be started by fantasy managers in Week 1, but he could be worth stashing in a bench spot for future weeks.

Low-End RB1 Treatment For Josh Jacobs in Week 1
Josh Jacobs looks to continue his fantastic run as a Packer by starting Week 1 with a bang at home against the Detroit Lions. Jacobs looks to build off of his first season in the green and gold, where he produced 1,329 yards on the ground, added 342 in the receiving game, and scored 16 touchdowns. The Packers could look to pass a bit more in 2025, with quarterback Jordan Love not as limited as he was last season due to injuries. However, the offensive focus for Green Bay is likely to still lean on Jacobs and the run game. Treat Jacobs as a low-end RB1 against a Lions defense that's now healthy, but does return defensive end Aidan Hutchinson to a defense that was stout against the run with the second-fewest rushing yards allowed to running backs last season.

Aaron Rodgers A Last-Resort QB2 Against Former Team
Aaron Rodgers will take the field for the first time in black and gold against the New York Jets in Week 1. While Rodgers will surely be motivated to face the team he spent the last two seasons with, this simply isn't a matchup to target for fantasy production. The Jets surrendered the fifth-fewest passing yards and 11th-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2024, and they were even tougher on the position the year prior. In addition, this contest carries the lowest-projected point total of the week. All things considered, Rodgers was solid last season, but he scored as a top-12 fantasy QB just six times. The 41-year-old should only be considered in superflex leagues as a low-end QB2 on Sunday.
