The Baltimore Orioles have officially activated right-handed pitching prospect
Chayce McDermott (lat) off the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. McDermott was dealing with a lat strain during the opening month of the campaign. He logged 5 2/3 innings of rehab work and allowed two hits and one run, and held a 6:4 K:BB. Last summer, McDermott spent most of his time at Triple-A but did make his MLB debut. Across his first four innings of work in Baltimore, the right-hander held a 6.75 ERA. At Triple-A, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Baltimore system posted a solid 3.78 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP across 100 innings of work. During this stint, he struck out 144 batters and served up 60 free passes. Fantasy managers should expect McDermott to contend for a return to the major leagues later this summer.

San Diego Padres infield prospect
Leodalis De Vries is riding a five-game hitting streak at High-A. This streak was kick-started by a three-hit outing on April 29 against Dayton. During this stretch, the top prospect in San Diego has held a .553/.667/.867 slash line with two doubles, one home run, six RBI, six walks, and no strikeouts. The 18-year-old began the season at High-A and has looked quite comfortable through his first 22 contests at this level. Over this stretch, the No. 17-ranked prospect in the system has held an impressive .309/.400/.593 slash line with five doubles, three triples, four home runs, and three stolen bases. Last summer, De Vries spent his time at Low-A, where he held a .237/.361/.441 line. Given his current progression, he should be in the mix to join Double-A in the second half of the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals have optioned right-handed pitching prospect
Michael McGreevy back to Triple-A Memphis. In a corresponding move, the Cardinals promoted right-handed pitcher
Gordon Graceffo. McGreevy was promoted prior to Sunday's doubleheader against the New York Mets. He was deployed in a long relief role in Game 2 and looked quite sharp as he logged five 2/3 innings of one-hit ball. He served up just one walk and struck out five. McGreevy also performed well during his first taste of the major leagues in 2024, when he posted a 1.96 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP across 23 innings. During this stretch, he struck out 18 batters and held a near-perfect 2.3 percent walk rate. Fantasy managers should expect the No. 11-ranked prospect in the system to return to the majors later this summer.

Texas Rangers shortstop prospect
Sebastian Walcott has hit a bit of a skid over the week at Double-A. Over his last eight contests, Walcott has held an underwhelming .200/.294/.200 slash line with no extra-base hits. During this stretch, he has stolen two bases and held a 4:4 K:BB. However, prior to this slump, the No. 16-ranked prospect in the sport had enjoyed a strong start to the regular season. He held a .266/.392/.453 slash line with six doubles and two home runs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 19-year-old's progression as he continues to work out his struggles at Double-A. Last season, the top prospect in Texas spent most of his time with High-A. Given his current trajectory, fantasy managers should expect Walcott to contend for a 2026 MLB debut.

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander
J.P. Feyereisen from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday and designated right-hander
Yoendrys Gomez for assignment in a corresponding move, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Feyereisen will give the Dodgers a fresh bullpen arm for the time being in the big leagues. The 32-year-old veteran began the year with the Arizona Diamondbacks but was cut after giving up three runs (two earned) while walking none and striking out two in two relief innings in the desert. He quickly latched on with the Dodgers to stay in the National League West after making 10 relief appearances with L.A. a year ago. In those 10 outings, he allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits while walking five and striking out nine. There's nothing to see here for fantasy managers.

Cleveland Guardians right-handed reliever
Paul Sewald (shoulder) suffered an isolated high-grade posterior deltoid strain in his right shoulder on April 28 and landed on the 10-day injured list on April 22 (retroactive to April 20). Sewald will be rechecked at two-week intervals to determine his progress and his readiness to start a return-to-throw program. The Guardians expect the 34-year-old veteran to be out for a while, and without a clear timetable for a return, it's safe to say that we probably won't see him back in the big-league bullpen until at least June. Sewald hadn't been good for the Guardians prior to his injury, either, as he had surrendered eight earned runs on 13 hits (three home runs) while walking two and striking out 15 in 11 2/3 innings over 14 relief appearances. Sewald does bring plenty of experience, though, with 85 career saves in nine MLB seasons.

The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-handed reliever
Hunter Bigge (lat) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a right-lat strain and recalled right-hander
Cole Sulser up from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin. Bigge will now be away from the team for at least a few weeks as he recovers from his injury. The 26-year-old had not pitched since last Thursday and has allowed four earned runs on 11 hits (four homers) while walking five and striking out 12 in 15 innings over 13 appearances out of Tampa's bullpen. Bigge will be eligible to return from the IL on May 18, but given the type of injury he's dealing with, we wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again in the big leagues until later in the month.

Athletics rookie right-hander
Gunnar Hoglund will make his second major-league start on Wednesday in Sacramento against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. Hoglund, the team's No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline, made a strong impression in his major-league debut last Friday against the Miami Marlins, picking up his first career win by giving up just one earned run while walking none and striking out seven in six innings pitched. Fantasy managers looking for rotation help in deeper leagues should definitely look to pick Hoglund up if he's available on the waiver wire, although he'll definitely have a much tougher matchup in his second start against Seattle, a team that currently ranks seventh in all of MLB with a .755 OPS. The 25-year-old had a 2.43 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 30 strikeouts and seven walks in his six starts with Triple-A Las Vegas before his call-up.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander
Jose Urena will make the start on Tuesday in Anaheim against the hosting Los Angeles Angels. The Blue Jays signed both Urena and right-hander
Spencer Turnbull to big-league deals over the weekend, and Urena will be the first to get a shot in a starting role for Toronto this week. The 33-year-old veteran Dominican began the year with the New York Mets but was quickly cut after giving up five earned runs on seven hits (two homers) while walking one and striking out three in three relief innings against the Washington Nationals on April 28. He appeared in 33 games (nine starts) for the Texas Rangers in 2024 and was much better, posting a 3.80 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 70:39 K:BB and one save in 109 innings. Urena will be a deep DFS sleeper, but the matchup is right against an Angels offense with a .650 OPS, which ranks 26th in baseball.

Colorado Rockies rookie right-hander
Chase Dollander (finger) will start Tuesday night at Coors Field against the visiting Detroit Tigers. Dollander dealt with a split fingernail on his pitching hand in his last start on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, when he allowed just one earned run on two hits while walking three and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings for the second win of his career. The 23-year-old prospect has plenty of long-term upside, but he's been shaky so far in his first five MLB starts, posting a 6.48 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 10 walks in 25 innings pitched. Dollander will be a risky fantasy option on Tuesday night at hitter-friendly Coors Field coming off his finger issue while facing the first-place Tigers, an offense that currently ranks sixth in OPS among all big-league teams.

The Chicago White Sox acquired minor-league right-hander
Evan McKendry from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. McKendry, who is 27 years old, will serve as organizational relief depth for the White Sox for the time being. He was originally a ninth-round pick by the Rays in 2019 out of the University of Miami. McKendry had allowed five earned runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out four in seven innings over four outings (one start) at Triple-A Nashville before the trade. In his six minor-league seasons, McKendry has gone 24-22 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 405 strikeouts and 109 walks in 436 2/3 innings pitched over 111 appearances (72 starts).

Ross Stripling announced his retirement from professional baseball on Monday with a post on X. Stripling will call it quits after failing to make the Opening Day roster with the Kansas City Royals this spring out of camp. The 35-year-old veteran was originally a fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 out of Texas A&M. He spent the first four years of his major-league career with the Dodgers and also made his lone All-Star appearance with the team back in 2018, when he went 8-6 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 136:22 K:BB in 122 innings pitched. Stripling really struggled on the mound in his final two years with the San Francisco Giants and Athletics, posting a combined 5.68 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 174 1/3 frames. He ends his nine-year MLB career with a 4.17 ERA (4.06 FIP), 1.24 WHIP, 20.9% strikeout rate and 5.6% walk rate in 846 1/3 regular-season innings.
