San Francisco Giants infield prospect Jhonny Level homered in a 3-for-5 day at the plate on Monday, driving in two runs and scoring twice for the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Giants. He was also caught stealing one time. The Giants' fourth-ranked prospect is faring well in his first stateside professional baseball action, hitting .298 with nine doubles, four triples, and eight home runs (.513 SLG) in 51 Complex League games. He's also posted a better-than-average 12.7 percent walk rate, helping him to a strong .386 OBP, and he's also stolen 14 bases. The switch-hitter can hit for both contact and power, although his speed might be his best tool. But at 18 years old, the young Venezuelan is still several years away from the majors.

The New York Jets are signing All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The new deal that includes a $30.1 million average salary makes the 24-year-old the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. Since being selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati, Gardner has earned two first-team All-Pro honors and been selected to two Pro Bowls. Marvin Mims Jr. could be poised for his first 1,000-yard season in 2025 with another year of chemistry with second-year quarterback
Bo Nix. Mims was selected in the second round (63rd overall) in 2023 out of Oklahoma, and he's already been a Pro Bowl returner on special teams twice. However, the 23-year-old's progress as a pass-catcher could unlock another element in the Broncos' offense. He showcased his ability to win on contested deep balls -- no example greater than his amazing Week 17 touchdown grab against the Cincinnati Bengals to force overtime. Mims had 434 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his final seven games in 2024 and is probably the favorite for WR2 duties behind
Courtland Sutton. For his big-play abilities alone, Mims is worth a bench stash as a WR5/6.

The Kansas City Chiefs and franchise-tagged offensive guard Trey Smith are finalizing a massive new contract extension on Tuesday that will make him the highest-paid guard in the league, sources tell NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The four-year deal worth $94 million deal will be done by agents Tory Dandy and Jimmy Sexton. The deal includes $70 million guaranteed. Smith would have been the highest-paid guard in the NFL if he had played on the one-year, $23.4 million franchise tag in 2025, too. The 26-year-old was taken in the sixth round (226th overall) in 2021 out of Tennessee but has become one of the best guards in the league and was named a first-time Pro Bowler in 2024. Smith has started 67 of a possible 68 regular-season games since joining KC, including all 13 of their playoff games since 2021. He's now locked in with the Chiefs for the foreseeable future.

Anthony Richardson Sr. (shoulder) back "at some point" during training camp this summer, and "when he does come back, we'll ease him into throwing and then we'll go from there." Richardson did not require another surgery on his troublesome right shoulder, but he will enter training camp behind
Daniel Jones for the open competition under center in 2025. Richardson and Jones were set to split reps evenly during OTAs and minicamp, but Richardson's shoulder injury caused him to miss all of minicamp. "It's really going to come down to who's the most consistent," Steichen said. First and foremost, Richardson is going to need to prove he can stay healthy. The former first-rounder has elite rushing upside, but his health and accuracy are major questions, and he still might need to outplay Jones to win the starting gig back.

Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on July 22, according to MLB.com. Mountcastle was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right-hamstring strain and was moved to the 60-day injured list on June 23. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment, he could be activated on July 30 or shortly thereafter. Bronny James Jr. collected 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists across 24 minutes in a 67-58 Summer League loss to the Clippers on Monday. James knocked down 6-of-10 field goal attempts and shot 3-for-6 from three-point land, leading the Lakers in scoring. In the last two games, the 20-year-old is shooting 52.4 percent from the field. Last season, James averaged 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists across 6.7 minutes per game in 27 contests. David Robertson is throwing for interested clubs this week, according to The Athletic's Will Sammon. Robertson has been a free agent since the end of last season, but he could land with a team looking for help in the bullpen soon. Several teams, including the New York Mets and New York Yankees, have looked into Robertson, according to league sources. Robertson turned 40 in April, but he had a 3.00 ERA with 99 strikeouts and 27 walks with the Texas Rangers in 2024. From 2022-24, he averaged 63 appearances per year with a 2.82 ERA. The former 17th-round pick by the Yankees in 2006 out of Alabama has 177 career saves in 16 MLB seasons and has also pitched for the Marlins, Phillies, Cubs, White Sox, Rays and Rangers. Because of his wealth of experience in high-leverage roles, it's not out of the question for Robertson to become fantasy relevant in the second half.

Terry McLaurin said he hasn't decided if he will report to training camp next week, and he's taking things day by day, according to NBC Sports' JP Finlay. McLaurin has skipped all of the team's offseason workouts so far and could continue that into training camp as he seeks a long-term contract extension. The 29-year-old is heading into the final year of a three-year, $68.2 million extension he signed in 2022 and is seeking more after posting his fifth straight 1,000-yard season in 2024. Colston Loveland (shoulder) says that his surgically-repaired shoulder is 100 percent, according to NBC Sports' Mike Berman. However, when asked if he'll be out on the field when training camp begins this month, Loveland said it's to be determined. Despite having surgery on his shoulder back in January, the Bears took the 21-year-old 10th overall in April's NFL draft. Loveland has high-end passing catching potential, but he also missed all of the team's offseason workouts and appears unlikely to be full-go for the start of camp in July. The Bears will most likely play it safe with their first-rounder, especially since they still have

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams (knee) has the size and athletic ability to become an elite edge rusher, in the opinion of The Athletic's Jon Machota. Williams suffered a season-ending torn ACL and MCL in training camp last summer that caused him to miss the entire year. However, he was able to take part in individual drills during minicamp, and Machota believes that he could be the team's second-most productive pass-rusher in 2025 behind Micah Parsons. The 26-year-old was taken 56th overall in the second round in the 2022 NFL draft and recorded 48 tackles (30 solo), 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 32 games (zero starts) in his first two years in the league. If he can stay healthy, Williams could be a key player in Dallas' pass rush.

According to CBS Sports' Bud Elliot, Cincinnati Bengals first-round rookie pass-rusher Shemar Stewart has been taking part in workouts with Texas A&M, his former college team, and could be considering returning to college in 2025 after being taken by the Bengals with the No. 17 overall pick in April. The 21-year-old has been holding out over default language the Bengals want him to sign as part of his rookie deal that would void all guarantees in his contract. Cincinnati is known for playing hardball with their players, so this isn't really anything new. If Stewart were to return to play for the Aggies this fall, the Bengals wouldn't receive any compensation for losing him, and Stewart would then be allowed to re-enter next year's NFL draft. It's unclear if a resolution is coming soon in this bizarre saga between Stewart and the Bengals.

Jesus Tinoco (forearm) is continuing a throwing program he started on June 16 and is "close to getting back on the mound," according to MLB.com. The 30-year-old right-hander was placed on the 15-day IL with a right forearm strain in early June. Before the injury, Tinoco had worked 19 1/3 innings with a 5.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 10 strikeouts, and four saves. His 3.26 xERA was significantly lower than his actual number, but his putrid 12.5% strikeout rate was also much worse than the 25.9% K rate he posted in 2024. This year, he has posted a 0.75 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 12 games (11 starts). He is 6-0 with a 1.39 FIP and 0.86 WHIP in his 72 innings. Griffin reportedly switched up his arsenal this year, catching the eye of several MLB teams with his strong start to the season, according to Fansided's Robert Murray. The Boston Red Sox may be circling Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher
Charlie Morton as a trade-deadline target, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Fox Sports. The 41-year-old Morton's season-long numbers are unimpressive, as he's posted a 5.18 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 88 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings (14 starts). However, Morton has turned it on of late. Across seven starts in June and July, Morton is 4-0 with a 2.72 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings. The veteran gives up a significant amount of hard contact on the ground, which has led to an elevated .331 BABIP and will continue to impact his WHIP. However, he still racks up strikeouts and could be in line for more win chances if moved to Boston or any other contender.

It was impressive to watch Chris Gotterup perform under the pressure of having arguably the game's second-best player staring at him for 18 holes during the final round of the Scottish Open. The 25-year-old shot a -4 under par, 66 in the final round to win by two strokes. Often marveled for his length off the tee, Gotterup got things done with a red-hot putter, averaging +1.87 strokes gained on the greens at The Renaissance Club. His +1.22 strokes gained off the tee is something he's been able to do all season, which makes links golf a decent fit for him. Aside from the exhaustion of going toe-to-toe with Rory McIlroy, this week's Open Championship presents another decent opportunity to produce another high finish. It would be wise to check ownership levels, though, before officially adding him to lineups.
