Isaac Paredes Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring. In other moves, the team is bringing up infielders Shay Whitcomb and Jon Singleton from Triple-A Sugar Land to help cover for Paredes' loss. Paredes was expected to land on the IL after he came up limping on a single in Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners and had to leave early. The severity of the injury is unknown, but an extended absence would be a significant blow to the Astros. Paredes has been a crucial part of their lineup this season. He made his second straight All-Star team this year and has slashed .259/.359/.470 with 19 homers, 50 RBI, and 51 runs scored in 409 plate appearances. There's no realistic way to replace that type of production from within, though the Astros will try to make do with their in-house options for now. Whitcomb and Mauricio Dubon are among those who could see time at the hot corner in Paredes' absence.
