Fernando Tatis Jr. Scratched on Monday
Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Tatis was expected to play, but was ultimately held out due to hamstring tightness. After Sunday's game, Tatis mentioned that he has been dealing with hamstring tightness. The Padres will take the cautious approach and hold him out of this game. Luis Arraez will move into the leadoff spot. Ramon Laureano will take over right field while Bryce Johnson moves into center field. Fantasy managers should consider Tatis as day-to-day. There should be another update on his status ahead of Tuesday's game.Source: San Diego Padres
San Diego Padres outfielder Nolan Arenado Nearing Rehab Assignment
Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is expected to join the team on Wednesday. After that, Arenado will have his injured right shoulder examined by a doctor on Thursday. If everything goes well, Arenado could be cleared to work out with the team ahead of Thursday's contest. The next step would be for Arenado to go on a minor league rehab assignment. Arenado has been sidelined since late July due to a right shoulder strain. The hope is that Arenado can return to the Cardinals lineup by mid-September. Fantasy managers should check back throughout the week for another update on his status.Source: John Denton
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Brendan Donovan Goes Through Full Workout
Brendan Donovan (groin) was able to go through a full workout on Monday. Donovan was able to do running, hitting, and fielding without any issues. The plan is for Donovan to do another workout ahead of Tuesday's game. If that goes well, Donovan will likely be sent out on a rehab assignment. Donovan has been sidelined since the middle of August due to groin soreness. Barring any setbacks, Donovan should be back in the mix within the next week or so.Source: John Denton
St. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Chase Meidroth Removed Early on Monday With Ankle Sprain
Chase Meidroth (ankle) was forced to make an early exit from Monday's game against the Minnesota Twins. It's unclear when Meidroth suffered the injury, but he was lifted late in the game due to a right ankle sprain. He finished the day 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, so fantasy managers should consider Meidroth as day-to-day. He should be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but fantasy managers should check back on Tuesday for another update. Lenyn Sosa shifted over to second base after Meidroth's departure. Sosa figures to see increased playing time over there if Meidroth misses time.Source: Kyle Williams
Chicago White Sox infielder Jake Burger Activated From Injured List
Jake Burger (wrist) from the 10-day injured list with rosters expanding on Monday. The team also reinstated right-handed reliever Chris Martin (calf) from the 15-day IL. The Rangers have not released their starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks, so it's unclear if Burger is back in the starting lineup. Now that he's back on the big-league roster, he's likely to serve in the short side of a platoon at first base with Rowdy Tellez against left-handed pitching. The 29-year-old right-handed power hitter hit 34 home runs in 2023 with the White Sox and Marlins and almost returned to the 30-homer mark last year in Miami. However, he has just 12 long balls and 41 RBI in 84 games in 2025 in his first year in Texas and has been on the IL multiple times.Source: Texas Rangers PR
The Texas Rangers activated infielder Francisco Alvarez Could be Back Soon
Luis Torrens and Hayden Senger are holding down the fort for now, but Alvarez should be the team's primary backstop when he's ready. The Venezuelan backstop hit 25 homers in 2023 but has been held back by injuries in two years since then.Source: The Athletic - Tim Britton
New York Mets catcher Francico Alvarez (thumb, pinkie) could be back in the big leagues soon, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic. During his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse due to a torn ligament in his right thumb, Alvarez suffered a broken pinkie finger on his left hand last Tuesday. However, he was back on the field by Saturday and caught nine innings for Syracuse on Sunday. Alvarez must show that he can tolerate the pain in each hand now, but as long as he doesn't have any setbacks, the Mets could activate him from the injured list sooner than later. The Mets have been aggressive with his rehab to this point. Kodai Senga in Danger of Losing Rotation Spot?
Kodai Senga is in danger of losing his spot in the regular-season starting rotation after another dud of a performance in Sunday's series finale against the Miami Marlins in which he allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings. "We're going to have some discussion about what's next for him," manager Carlos Mendoza said. Mendoza and president of baseball operations David Stearns have said the situation is "fluid" with the rotation on a turn-by-turn basis. The 32-year-old veteran had a rough 6.18 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 27 strikeouts and 14 walks in six starts (27 2/3 innings) in the month of August and just hasn't been the same since returning from a hamstring injury right before the All-Star break. Fantasy managers may not be able to count on Senga in the fantasy postseason.Source: The Athletic - Tim Britton
The Athletic's Tim Britton writes that New York Mets right-hander MacKenzie Gore Hopes to Return This Year
MacKenzie Gore (shoulder) is optimistic that he can return this year after landing on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with left-shoulder inflammation. After a strong start to the 2025 season, Gore has struggled in the second half, recording a 7.54 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in eight starts. His shoulder injury could have something to do with those lackluster results. Although it's good news his left-shoulder injury isn't serious, fantasy managers can't realistically expect anything the rest of the way, especially with the Nats out of playoff contention. Gore has thrown 147 1/3 innings in 27 outings in his fourth major-league season after tallying a career-high 166 1/3 innings over 32 starts a year ago. "We've got to get some strength back, got to get everything moving the right way," Gore said. "That's kind of what we're going to do the next 15 days, and I plan on being ready to go."Source: MLB.com - Jessica Camerato
Washington Nationals left-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long to Start on Tuesday
Sawyer Gipson-Long has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo and will make the start on Tuesday against the New York Mets, according to Evan Woodbery of MLive. It will be Gipson-Long's seventh appearance and third start for the Tigers this year after he had a nice 2.70 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and eight walks in his first four major-league starts in his MLB debut in 2023. The 27-year-old hasn't been quite as good in his small sample size this year with a 4.32 ERA (4.20 FIP) and 1.04 WHIP with 20 strikeouts and only four walks in 25 innings, and he also hasn't pitched into the fifth inning in any game since late June. It means that fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a streamer on Tuesday, especially with Detroit facing a playoff-caliber team in the Mets. Also, Tuesday's outing is likely to just be a spot start for SGL.Source: MLive - Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers right-hander Hyeseong Kim, Michael Kopech Reinstated From Injured List
Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) and right-handed reliever Michael Kopech (knee) from the injured list with rosters expanding on Monday, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Kim is returning from the 10-day IL, while Kopech is back from the 60-day IL. Kim has been out since July 28 with shoulder bursitis and will return to the Dodgers as a super-utility player. He saw time at shortstop, second base and center field before his injury and could also be an option in left field for the Blue down the stretch and into the playoffs with Michael Conforto struggling mightily. The hard-throwing Kopech has been out since having surgery on July 1 to fix the meniscus in his right knee. Kopech struggled in just 5 1/3 big-league innings this season, so expect the Dodgers to ease him into high-leverage bullpen situations the rest of the year.Source: MLB.com - Sonja Chen

Edward Cabrera Heading to Injured List With Elbow Sprain
Edward Cabrera (elbow) is heading to the 15-day injured list on Monday with a right-elbow sprain, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. It could help explain why Cabrera struggled in his most recent start, when he allowed six runs (five earned) in four innings over the New York Mets on Saturday. The 27-year-old right-hander will miss at least the next two weeks, and given the nature of his injury, fantasy managers cannot expect him to return for the season's final month. He could also require surgery, which might put his availability up in the air for the start of 2026. The Dominican hurler has been solid for the Fish in 2025, going 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 140 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings over 24 starts. Cabrera's 7.7% walk rate has been a career low.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola

Robert Gasser to Get Work as Long Reliever at Nashville
Robert Gasser will transition from starter to reliever at Triple-A Nashville, with the team working to get him multi-inning relief appearances in the event that is what the Brewers could need down the stretch as they make a push for a division crown. Gasser recently completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, making five starts at Triple-A Nashville, where he recorded a 3.37 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 16.3 percent K-BB%. The southpaw debuted with the Brewers in 2024, making five starts and posting a 2.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and walking just one batter while striking out 16 in 28 innings of work. Since the 26-year-old was optioned to Nashville when he came off the injured list, he'll have to wait 15 days before being recalled, unless he's replacing an injured player. Long-term, Gasser still projects as a starter rather than a reliever and could still develop into a solid major league pitcher.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Joey Ortiz Reinstated and Starting on Monday
Joey Ortiz (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday, and he's starting at shortstop and batting ninth for Monday's series opener against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Taijuan Walker at American Family Field. Ortiz's return from the IL will push Andruw Monasterio back to a utility role in Milwaukee. The 27-year-old Ortiz has been better offensively in the second half of the season, but overall he's still not much of a fantasy weapon, outside of deep-mixed and NL-only formats. The former fourth-rounder by the Baltimore Orioles in 2019 out of New Mexico State will return to a .233/.284/.328 slash line, seven home runs, 43 RBI, 56 runs and 11 stolen bases in 400 at-bats. Ortiz has gone hitless in just two career at-bats versus Walker. Stay away from him in DFS.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
