2 hours agoSan Francisco 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga (knee) said his goal is to be available in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in the Week 11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2021 fifth-round pick and 2022 Pro Bowl selection hopes he can return at some point in training camp later this summer to ramp up for regular-season action. August 19 will mark nine months since his right ACL tear, so there's a chance he will achieve his goal. That said, it's early in the offseason, so there will be plenty of updates on his status. Hufanga should start alongside second-year safety Ji'Ayir Brown as soon as he's fully cleared for action. The 24-year-old USC product has tallied 181 tackles, two sacks, seven interceptions, and 14 pass deflections through his first 42 games. In IDP leagues, he scored the fourth-most fantasy points among safeties in 2022.Source: Nick Wagoner
2 hours agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver N'Keal Harry is reportedly up to 240 pounds in preparation for his attempted move to tight end. The 2019 first-round pick by the New England Patriots out of Arizona State has not found success at receiver through his first five NFL campaigns, and there have been a few success stories of players moving to tight end. Harry said heard "whispers" during his career about moving to tight end, but the Vikings were the first team to broach it with him with the idea. With T.J. Hockenson (knee) likely out of action to begin 2024 after a late-season ACL tear last year, it will be interesting to see if Harry can carve out a role in the new-look Vikings offense led by Sam Darnold or J.J. McCarthy. He's not on the fantasy radar in regular leagues, but deep-league dynasty fantasy managers could take a flyer on him.Source: Kevin Seifert - ESPN
2 hours agoNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (shoulder) is wearing a non-contact jersey at summer practices due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the weight room a few weeks ago. However, head coach Dennis Allen said the former first-round pick has been going through full practices anyway, so this minor ailment shouldn't cause much concern. The 23-year-old has been fantastic through his first two NFL seasons, securing 159 of his 257 targets for 2,165 yards and nine touchdowns in 31 games. While Derek Carr isn't viewed as a high-level quarterback, he's been good enough to support fantasy WR1s throughout his career. New Orleans failed to add significant target competition this offseason, meaning Olave remains a WR1 candidate in his third NFL campaign.Source: NFL.com
2 hours agoVeteran center Corey Linsley, who is expected to announce his retirement this offseason, was released by the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday. The two-time All-Pro selection spent the last three seasons with L.A. after seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Linsley played just three games in 2023 due to a heart-related health issue, and the 32-year-old looks to be headed toward life after football. Overall, the former fifth-round pick started in 132 games and was viewed as one of the game's best centers over the last decade.Source: NFL.com
2 hours agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has agreed to terms to sign his rookie contract, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 28-year-old out of Texas saw his fantasy football stock skyrocket after posting an NFL-record 4.21 forty-yard dash and being drafted by Kansas City with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The speedster has intriguing upside playing with Patrick Mahomes, but injury risk could be present since he is under 170 pounds. Worthy already suffered a minor hamstring injury this offseason, which is concerning given the numerous wideouts that have missed games with lingering hamstring issues over the last few seasons. Nonetheless, he's a clear first-round pick in rookie drafts.Source: Tom Pelissero

4 hours agoChicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen said that he's "going to play as long as I can" and is fully open to discussing a contract extension with the Bears. Chicago acquired Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason and then drafted former Washington Huskies wideout Rome Odunze in the first round in April. DJ Moore could be an extension candidate as well, so the Bears haven't really engaged Allen in extension talks since he joined the team. Despite playing in only 13 games in his final season with the Bolts in 2023, the 32-year-old had 108 receptions (150 targets) for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging a career-high 95.6 yards per game. Fantasy managers should expect a big volume dip for Allen in his first year in the Windy City, though, while working with rookie first-rounder Caleb Williams.Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Patrick Finley
4 hours agoCleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) is doing well in his rehab from a gruesome season-ending left knee injury that he suffered on Sept. 18 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he's uncertain when he might be back. "I like where I'm at," Chubb said. "I'm where I need to be. I would say that. The biggest thing for me is just getting better every day." Chubb needed two surgeries on his right knee after he sustained tears to his ACL, MCL, the medial capsule and meniscus. He's been running since April but is unclear on an exact return date to football activities, which is going to make him a volatile fantasy option in 2024. Chubb tore three ligaments in the same knee back in college in 2015, but his ACL remained intact. As things stand now, Chubb is in danger of missing the start of the 2024 regular season and will probably be eased back into to a regular workload.Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Chris Easterling
4 hours agoThe Cleveland Browns announced on Wednesday that they have signed both head coach Kevin Stefanski and executive vice president of football operations and general manager Andrew Berry to contract extensions. Stefanski and Berry both came to Cleveland in 2020 and have a record of 37-30 with the team, the highest winning percentage for the team over a four-year stretch since 1986-89. In 2020, the Browns made their first playoff appearance since 2002 and won their first postseason game in 26 years. Cleveland also finished last year with an 11-6 record and another trip to the playoffs, but they were knocked out in the first round by the Houston Texans. Under Stefanski, the Browns have established a prominent running game and are third in the NFL with an average of 139.6 rushing yards per game since 2020.Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Kelsey Russo
4 hours agoLos Angeles Chargers former first-round wide receiver Quentin Johnston had a pretty dreadful first season in the NFL and was plagued by some key drops, ultimately finishing with 38 catches for 431 yards and two touchdowns despite both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen missing time with injuries. In addition to drops, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder was pushed around physically. Johnston called his play "straight-up unacceptable" and is determined to turn things around in Year 2. The good news for fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues is that the Chargers' new brass has been praising the 22-year-old's positive attributes and are going to give him every chance to excel. The bad news for Johnston's 2024 fantasy upside is that he's now in a run-first offense under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Still, he'll have his chances and is worth a late-round flier with both Williams and Allen no longer in town.Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra
4 hours agoFree-agent cornerback Cameron Sutton is signing an undisclosed deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, according to his agents. Sutton was released by the Detroit Lions on March 21 after a domestic-violence warrant was issued. The 29-year-old defensive back was originally drafted in the third round by Pittsburgh in 2017 out of Tennessee. Sutton spent the first six seasons of his NFL career in the Steel City and racked up a total of 143 solo tackles, two sacks, eight tackles for loss, eight interceptions, 38 passes defended, five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 84 games played (39 starts) before playing in Detroit last year. He had 65 tackles (50 solo) and an interception in 17 regular-season games for the Lions but wasn't particularly effective in coverage. Sutton will give the Steelers some veteran secondary depth in 2024.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
4 hours agoDallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee) "looks great" this offseason in his return from a torn ACL that he suffered last September. There seems to be a real chance that Diggs will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but "he's in a good spot." The 25-year-old defensive isn't going to be a full-go right away for training camp this summer, but he still has a chance to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 regular season, barring a setback. The former second-round pick in 2020 out of Alabama was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and 2022 before playing in just two games in 2023 due to his knee injury. Nobody in IDP fantasy leagues should be expecting Diggs to intercept another 11 passes like he did in 2021, but he's a difference-maker in Dallas' secondary when he's on the field.Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken
5 hours agoDetroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (undisclosed) was held out of practice on Wednesday as he deals with a soft-tissue injury, according to head coach Dan Campbell. It's something to watch, but this early in the offseason, it shouldn't be too much of a concern for Gibbs or the Lions. If it's still something that is bothering the second-year back in training camp this summer, then fantasy managers might want to be concerned. After being selected with the 12th overall pick last year out of Alabama, Gibbs ran for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns on 182 attempts while adding 52 receptions for 316 yards and a score in 15 regular-season games. David Montgomery will remain an obstacle to the 22-year-old reaching his true ceiling, but Gibbs still has RB1 upside, especially in PPR leagues with the potential to see more work as a pass-catcher in 2024.Source: NFL.com
18 hours agoPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said that cornerback James Bradberry is taking repetitions at safety during offseason organized team activities. It's unclear if it will be a permanent move for Bradberry in 2024 and beyond, but it's something interesting to track as we head into training camp at the end of July next month. The Eagles drafted rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in the first round in April, so he's penciled in to start across from Darius Slay in Philadelphia's secondary this year, which leaves the Eagles looking to take advantage of Bradberry's versatility at the safety position. The 30-year-old former second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2016 has 78 total solo tackles, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 30 passes defended in 33 regular-season starts for the Eagles the last two years.Source: 94WIP.com - Eliot Shorr-Parks
1 day agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver N'Keal Harry is working with the team's tight ends this offseason to see if he can carve out a role, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. He is still being listed as a wide receiver, but the 6-foot-4 pass-catcher could make the transition to tight end. Harry was selected with the No. 32 overall pick by the New England Patriots in 2019, but he has not found his place in the NFL thus far. Through his first 40 games with the Patriots and Chicago Bears, he's collected just 64 receptions for 714 yards and five touchdowns. With T.J. Hockenson (knee) expected to miss the start of the season after suffering a late-season ACL tear in 2023, Harry could be an interesting player to monitor as this development progresses. For now, he is far from the fantasy football radar.Source: Kevin Seifert - ESPN
