Seattle Mariners right-hander George Kirby tossed a gem in a 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Kirby threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing four hits, walking none, and striking out nine batters to earn the win. The veteran hurler led the game with 19 swinging strikes while improving his record to 3-4, to go along with a 4.22 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts across 49 innings of work. Kirby struggled in his first two starts of the season upon being activated from the injured list in late May but has been excellent since, posting a 2.68 ERA over his past seven starts. He will be a solid fantasy starting option in his next start, which will come on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.--Matt TerelleSource: MLB.com

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas extended his hitting streak to six games on Sunday during their contest against High-A Peoria. In this game, Rojas went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run. During this six-game hitting streak, Rojas has posted two multi-hit games, scored four runs, and added three RBI. During this stretch, he has held a cumulative .364/.440/.636 slash line. The 20-year-old has spent the entire first half of the campaign with High-A South Bend. Through 61 games, the No. 77-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com has held a .281/.393/.469 slash line with 13 doubles, seven home runs, and 14 stolen bases. This is a nice improvement compared to the .245/.310/.336 line he held at High-A last summer. Given his strong play this season, he could earn a promotion to Double-A in the coming weeks.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Los Angeles Angels right-handed pitching prospect Ryan Johnson enjoyed a dominant outing with High-A Tri-City on Sunday evening. Johnson tossed a complete game shutout. He allowed just one hit and did not serve up a walk. He struck out 12 batters. Johnson joined Los Angeles last season and made his MLB debut earlier this season before even pitching in a minor league game. However, during his first 14 2/3 innings in the big leagues, Johnson posted a high 7.36 ERA, which resulted in his demotion to High-A. However, he has been quite impressive with High-A and could be in the mix to either move up in the system or return to the major leagues in the coming weeks. Through 54 1/3 innings at High-A, Johnson has posted a stellar 1.99 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 61:10 K:BB.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 1-for-4 with his fourth home run at Triple-A on Sunday evening. Jones got the call to join Triple-A last week and has shown immense power upside during his first stint. Through eight games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Jones has hit three doubles and gone deep four times. During this stretch, he has held a .375/.450/.844 line and added two stolen bases. Jones is currently the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. He opened the campaign with Double-A Somerset, where he posted a solid .274/.389/.594 slash line with eight doubles and 16 home runs across 49 games. While he does hold a high strikeout rate, Jones has elite raw power. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he could be in the mix to join the Yankees later in the second half.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect J.J. Wetherholt went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday. Entering this game, Wetherholt was in a bit of a slump, holding a modest .176/.333/.294 slash line with just one double and a home run. The 22-year-old joined the St. Louis system after being selected with the seventh overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of West Virginia. After the draft last season, the Cardinals moved Wetherholt to Low-A, where he made his professional debut. Through 29 games, the infielder held a .295/.405/.400 slash line with five doubles and two home runs. This strong play earned him a ticket to open the 2025 campaign with Double-A. Through 62 total games with Double-A, Wetherholt has held an impressive .300/.425/.466 line. Fantasy managers should expect Wetherholt to be in the mix to join Triple-A later this summer.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop prospect Konnor Griffin went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases during their contest against High-A Aberdeen on Sunday. Over his last nine games, the former ninth overall pick from last year's MLB Draft has been very productive at the plate, posting a .324/.395/.529 slash line with a double, two home runs, and six stolen bases. Griffin made his professional debut this season with Low-A Bradenton but needed only 50 to prove he was ready to join High-A. During his stint with Low-A, the No. 2-ranked prospect in Pittsburgh held an impressive .338/.396/.536 slash line with 10 doubles, nine home runs, and 26 stolen bases. Even though Griffin is several seasons away from his MLB debut, he is quickly ascending prospect boards and could finish near the top of many lists at the end of the season.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Philadelphia Phillies second base prospect Aroon Escobar is being promoted to High-A Jersey Shore. Escobar is currently considered the No. 13-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. Escobar joined the Philadelphia system during the 2022 campaign. Through his first three seasons, Escobar spent all of his time in the Dominican Summer League. After posting a modest .209/.343/.300 line in the DSL during the 2023 season, Escobar took a significant step forward in 2024, posting a much higher .338/.495/.481 slash line. This performance earned him a spot with Low-A Clearwater to open the 2025 season. Through 69 games with Low-A, the infielder held a strong .282/.377/.452 line with 12 doubles, 11 home runs, and 10 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect the 20-year-old to spend the remainder of the second half with High-A.--Andy SmithSource: Chase Ford

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton continued his outstanding first half of the season Sunday with a multi-hit game in a 7-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Buxton smashed a solo homer, his 20th of the year, and finished 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an additional run scored. The 31-year-old has already reached the 20-HR mark for the second time in his career and remains on pace for his first season of 30 or more. With 16 steals so far, Buxton's first 20/20 or 30/30 season is also within reach. Named to his second American League All-Star team Sunday, Buxton has batted .270/.334/.544 with 53 RBI and 57 runs scored over 314 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Tampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks (4-2) earned his fourth win of the season in a 7-5 decision against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Fairbanks entered with one out and a runner on first in a 4-4 game in the bottom of the eighth. He retired both hitters he faced, striking out one, and stayed in for the ninth. Fairbanks didn't encounter much trouble in a scoreless frame, only allowing a single to Christian Vazquez. The Rays then scored three times in the top of the 10th, putting Fairbanks in position to nab the win. Rays reliever Eric Orze converted his third save in the bottom of the inning. After throwing a spotless 1 2/3 innings on Sunday, Fairbanks' ERA dropped to 2.34 with 30:14 K:BB, a 1.10 WHIP, and 15 saves in 34 2/3 frames.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak led the team to a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday with an excellent offensive showing. Moniak got off to an auspicious start with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning against White Sox starter Shane Smith. The 27-year-old later added a single and a triple to finish 3-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base. Moniak has been on a torrid run for over a month, having hit .354 (23-for-65) with eight homers, five doubles, two triples, and 17 RBI since June 1. Thanks to his recent stretch of success, the former No. 1 overall pick is slashing a solid .257/.303/.532 with 13 homers, 32 RBI, 30 runs, five steals, and a career-best 24.4% strikeout rate in 234 plate appearances. Unsurprisingly, Moniak has done most of his damage at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He has a .900 OPS at home and a .692 mark on the road.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Colorado Rockies reliever Seth Halvorsen picked up his eighth save of the year in a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Halvorsen allowed a two-out walk to Chase Meidroth, but he retired the other three hitters he faced in a 12-pitch frame. While save opportunities are rare for the last-place Rockies, Halvorsen is their top choice in that department. The 25-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 4.04 ERA with 32:16 K:BB and a 1.43 WHIP in 35 2/3 innings.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Right-handed reliever Luis Garcia has agreed to a Major League contract with the Washington Nationals, pending a physical, according to Andrew Golden of the Washington Post. Garcia, not to be confused with Nationals second baseman Luis Garcia Jr., became available when the Los Angeles Dodgers released him earlier this week. The 38-year-old recorded a rough 5.27 ERA with 24 strikeouts, 16 walks, and a 1.83 WHIP in 27 1/3 innings with the Dodgers, leading the club to go in another direction. The nomadic Garcia has pitched in the majors for seven different teams since debuting with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013. He carries a career 4.20 ERA with 8.48 K/9, 4.00 BB/9, and a 1.44 WHIP across 555 1/3 frames.--Connor ByrneSource: Andrew Golden - The Washington Post

Houston Astros second baseman/outfielder Jose Altuve had a big game at the plate Sunday in a 5-1 defeat of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Altuve went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to help the Astros finish off a three-game sweep of the reigning World Series champions. The nine-time All-Star has started July on a tear, going 10-for-24 with three homers, 10 RBI, two doubles, a triple, nine runs scored, and four walks in six games. While Altuve's overall production isn't approaching an MVP level anymore, this has still been the latest in a long line of quality seasons for the 36-year-old. Altuve is slashing .272/.332/.457 with 16 HRs, 46 RBI, 48 runs, and six steals in 371 trips to the plate.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Megill pitched a perfect ninth inning Sunday to earn his 20th save in a 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins. Megill picked up a pair of strikeouts and needed just 12 pitches to finish off Miami. The 31-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.56 with 38:15 K:BB and a 1.23 WHIP over 31 2/3 innings. Megill ranks sixth in the league in saves and has converted 87% percent of his opportunities this year.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN
