Cardinals to Promote Cesar Prieto
Cesar Prieto. Prieto has spent the vast majority of the past three campaigns at the Triple-A level and is finally being rewarded with an MLB promotion. In 2025, Prieto appeared in 107 games for the Memphis Redbirds. Through this sitnt, Prieto hasp osted a solid .295/.359/.448 line with 29 doubles, nine home runs, and 11stolen bases. During the 2024 campaign, Prieto held a lower .279/.318/.445 line with 14 home runs and five stolen bases across a 129-game stint with the Redbirds. Fantasy managers should monitor status in the majors as the Cardinals could look to give him a starting role during the final weeks of the season. Given his steady progress at Triple-A, he is worth a look in deeper NL-only formats for the time being.Source: Francys Romero
The St. Louis Cardinals are expected to promote second base prospect Miguel Vargas Leaves Thursday With a Wrist Contusion
Miguel Vargas left Thursday's game with a left wrist contusion. He will undergo further testing today, the Chicago White Sox report. Vargas attempted to field an errant throw at first base and collided with Aaron Judge, injuring his wrist in the process. While the initial diagnosis is a contusion, Vargas will undergo further imaging, and all indications point towards a trip to the injured list; however, at this time, he is considered day-to-day. Vargas has been solid for the White Sox lately, slashing .286/.444/.571 over his last seven days. Michael Taylor entered the game for Vargas after he left. Fantasy managers who are in a tight playoff race will likely want to move on from Vargas, as he was a streamer bat at best in most formats.Source: Chicago White Sox
Chicago White Sox utility man Michael King to Throw at Least One More Simulated Game Before Returning
Michael King (knee) will throw at least one more simulated game before being activated off the injured list, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. King threw 44 pitches in a three-inning sim game on August 23. At this time, it's unclear how the Padres plan to approach the Kings' rehab and whether he needs to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to the Padres' rotation. King has made just one big-league start since May 18, so it's likely that when he returns, he will be on a pitch count or a bit rusty. The start he made after his return from the shoulder injury, on August 9 against the Boston Red Sox, was the outing that caused the knee discomfort that landed him on the injured list shortly after. Fantasy managers should continue to stash King on their IL and hope for a return sometime next week to help them with their playoff run.Source: AJ Cassavell
San Diego Padres right-hander Michael Kopech Likely to Return Tuesday in Pittsburgh
Michael Kopech (knee) is likely to return on Tuesday in Pittsburgh, as the rosters expand to 28 players on September 1, and activating him would not require a transaction. Kopech has missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury, having made only eight appearances and pitched seven innings in June. During those seven innings, he has been dominant, not allowing a run and striking out eight batters. The Dodgers' bullpen could use the help, as they have struggled a bit with injuries and production (4.13 ERA). With Kopech returning, it's unclear how manager Dave Roberts will deploy his bullpen with Blake Treinen, Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, and Kopech healthy. Still, as the season plays on, Kopech will be a strong candidate to pitch in the highest leverage situations, making him a good option for leagues that prioritize saves and holds.Source: Bill Plunkett
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Max Muncy Could be Activated Soon
Max Muncy (oblique) could come off the injured list next week, as he took batting practice and participated in defensive drills on the field on Wednesday, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. Muncy landed on the 10-day injured list on August 15 due to a right oblique strain, so he's eligible to return to action at any point; however, the Dodgers want to make sure he's fully ramped up, considering he missed most of June and July with a knee injury. Alex Freeland and Miguel Rojas have been seeing more playing time in Muncy's absence, and will likely lose the opportunities once Muncy returns. Muncy has been good at the plate overall after a slow start to the season, slashing .258/.389/.491 with 17 homeruns, 64 RBI, 44 runs scored, and four stolen bases.Source: Bill Plunkett
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Hyeseong Kim Set to Return When Rosters Expand
Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) is slated to be activated off the injured list when rosters expand on September 1, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Kim began a minor-league rehab assignment on August 21 and has done well, slashing .273/.292/.273 through six games. By waiting until after rosters expand to activate Kim, the Dodgers wouldn't need to clear room for him with another transaction. Kim has been solid when he gets his opportunities in the majors, slashing .304/.338/.406 in 138 at-bats, but is limited by the loaded roster the Dodgers have, and was not playing every day. Most notably, he has started playing left field with Triple-A Oklahoma City, which could allow manager Dave Roberts to get Kim into the game in more ways.Source: Bill Plunkett
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Spencer Jones Hits Slump at Triple-A
Spencer Jones has hit a brief skid at Triple-A. Over his last eight games, Jones has only gone deep once and held a modest .228/.226/.452 slash line with a hefty 14:0 K:BB. Throughout his last 28 games, Jones has seen similar struggles, holding a low .196/.261/.336 line with just three long balls and four doubles. However, before this slump, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Yankee system flashed immense power upside. In his first 19 games at Triple-A, Jones posted an impressive .400/.457/.950 line with five doubles, 13 home runs, and six stolen bases. Earlier in the season, Jones held a .983 OPS across 49 games with Double-A. If Jones can break this slump, he could be in the mix to join the Yankees late in the regular season.Source: MiLB.com
New York Yankees outfield prospect J.J. Wetherholt Knocking on MLB Door
J.J. Wetherholt has continued to flash immense upside at the Triple-A level and is knocking on the MLB door. Over his last six games with Triple-A Memphis, Wetherholt has posted a remarkable .481/.517/.620 line with four doubles, three stolen bases, and a 3:2 K:BB. Overall, since joining the top ranks of the St. Louis system, Wetherholt has posted a .331/.411/.625 line with 11 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, and seven stolen bases. In addition to his elite performance at the plate, he has also shown a strong eye, drawing 18 walks while only striking out 24 times. Earlier in the season, the former seventh overall pick posted a .300/.425/.466 line at Double-A. He remains a top prospect to stash in all standard leagues.Source: MiLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals infield prospect Jett Williams Snaps Power Skid on Thursday
Jett Williams was able to snap his 12-game power skid on Thursday evening, during their contest against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In this contest, the top-ranked prospect in the system according to MLB.com went 2-for-5 with a home run. During his 12-game power skid, Williams held a modest .200/.259/.280 line with a low .539 OPS. Since joining Triple-A Syracuse, Williams has shown some growing pains, holding an overall .206/.254/.365 line. Earlier in the campaign, Williams looked quite comfortable at Double-A, posting an elite .281/.390/.477 slash line with 29 doubles, 10 home runs, and 32 stolen bases. If Williams can continue to turn the corner, he could be in the mix to join the Mets in their postseason run.Source: MiLB.com
New York Mets infield prospect Alfredo Duno Extends Impressive Run on Thursday
Alfredo Duno continued his dominant run at the plate during their contest against Low-A Clearwater. In this game, Duno went 1-for-3 with a home run. He was able to extend his current hitting streak to an impressive 14 games. During this stretch, Duno has also flashed immense power upside, hitting six long balls and adding six doubles. Through 106 total games with Low-A this season, the 19-year-old has held his own, posting a .286/.426/.505 slash line with a strong .931 OPS and 15 total home runs. He currently sits as the team's fifth-ranked prospect and the overall 81st-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com. Given his strong second half, fantasy managers should expect Duno to open the 2026 season with High-A.Source: MiLB.com
Cincinnati Reds catching prospect Walker Jenkins Knocks First Triple-A Hit
Walker Jenkins tallied his first hit at the Triple-A level on Thursday evening. Facing Toledo, Jekins went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. During his first two games at Triple-A earlier in the week, the top-ranked prospect in Minnesota went 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. The former fifth overall pick has spent the majority of the campaign with Double-A and held a strong .309/.426/.487 slash line with 11 doubles, seven home runs, and 11 stolen bases. While he has dealt with injuries at times throughout his minor league career, when on the field, Jenkins has flashed immense upside. Jenkins is not expected to be in the mix to debut in the majors this season, but if he can enjoy a strong conclusion to the season, he could be in the mix to reach Minnesota early in 2026.Source: MiLB.com
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Colt Emerson Launches Two Home Runs on Thursday
Colt Emerson went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Wichita on Thursday evening. This was Emerson's fourth-straight game tallying at least one hit. However, this performance snapped a much-needed 14-game power drought. Since joining Double-A earlier in the second half, the top-ranked prospect in the Seattle system has only launched three home runs (two of them being on Thursday) and has held a .263/.333/.450 line with four doubles, three home runs, and two stolen bases. Earlier in the season. Emerson held a solid .841 OPS through 90 games at High-A. If he continues to make the necessary steps at Double-A, fantasy managers should expect Emerson to debut at Triple-A early in 2026.Source: MiLB.com

Bryce Eldridge Clubs 470-Foot Homer on Thursday
Bryce Eldridge went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer in a 21-7 slugfest win against Triple-A Reno. Eldridge got the scoring started with a 470-foot moonshot to right field in the first inning before Triple-A Sacramento broke out for 13 runs in the top of the third. The 20-year-old is up to 23 homers across multiple levels on the season, and hasn't seen a big production dip in his transition to Triple-A. The strikeout rate has crept up a bit to north of 30 percent, but he is still hitting for as much power. The lefty hitter will need to continue to get acclimated to same-handed pitching, as he has a .289 OBP against them this year. However, Edridge has elite raw power and figures to be in consideration for a late-season promotion if he continues to hit.Source: MiLB.com
San Francisco Giants first base prospect Caden Dana Gives Up Five Runs in Thursday's Start
Caden Dana took the loss as he allowed five runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts against Triple-A Round Rock. Dana was coming off a start where he allowed two runs and struck out 13 across seven innings, but he threw only 62 pitches and got through three frames in this one. He generated four swinging strikes on 33 swings and zero on the fastball. It's been a tough year overall for the 21-year-old right-hander. Dana holds a 5.93 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and an 85:46 K:BB ratio in 82 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake. Dana is currently ranked as the number five prospect in the Angels system according to MLB.comSource: MiLB.com
