Anthony Santander Out on Friday
Anthony Santander will retreat to the bench for Friday's series opener versus the visiting Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre. George Springer will serve as the DH and will hit cleanup, while Jonatan Clase will start in left field and bat ninth against Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty. It's been a rough start to Santander's time with Toronto in 2025. The 30-year-old Venezuelan switch-hitter has hit .187 (29-for-155) with five home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored, 17 walks and 41 strikeouts in 173 plate appearances after clubbing a career-high 44 homers and driving in 102 in 2024 with the Orioles. He went 1-for-12 with five strikeouts in his last three games and missed some time with a sore shoulder. Springer has swung the bat well this year but is hitless in 14 career at-bats against Flaherty. Clase has never faced Flaherty.Source: MLB.com
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Noah Cameron Set to Make Spot Start on Saturday
Noah Cameron is set to make a spot start on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cameron will take the spot of Seth Lugo (finger), who is being given the weekend off due to inflammation in his right finger. Cameron made his MLB debut earlier this season and performed very well, tossing six 1/3 one-hit innings against the Athletics. In this start, he struck out three batters and walked five. Through 32 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season, the southpaw has posted a 3.31 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He has tallied 38 punchouts and walked 13 batters. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should view Cameron as a viable streaming option given his strong debut, but should not expect him to remain on the MLB roster following this start.Source: Joel Goldberg
Kansas City Royals left-handed pitching prospect Tyler O'Neill Scratched With Shoulder Discomfort
Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) was scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the Washington Nationals due to left-shoulder discomfort. O'Neill first felt it in the batting cage a few days ago, but it was especially sore on Friday. Manager Brandon Hyde said that O'Neill is being considered day-to-day. With the 29-year-old sitting out, Ramon Laureano got the start in left field for the O's and was hitting in the cleanup spot against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. While it doesn't sound like a serious injury, it's not great news for a player that was just activated from the injured list last Friday after a two-week absence due to neck inflammation. O'Neill has a nice power/speed combination, but he has trouble staying healthy and is hitting just .188 (15-for-80) with two homers, 10 RBI, nine runs and two steals in his first 24 games as an Oriole in 2025.Source: The Baltimore Banner - Andy Kostka
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Mick Abel Set to Make MLB Debut on Sunday
Mick Abel is set to make his MLB debut on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Earlier on Friday, the Phillies placed starting pitcher Aaron Nola (ankle) on the 15-day IL. However, Abel is only expected to receive one start as veteran Taijuan Walker will replace Abel in the rotation next week. The former 15th overall pick is viewed as one of the top prospects in the Philadelphia system. Through his first 46 1/3 innings of work this season, the right-hander has performed well at Triple-A, holding a 2.53 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out 51 batters and served up 19 walks. Last season at Triple-A, Abel struggled as he held a high 6.46 ERA. Given his progress this season, he will have streaming appeal in deeper formats facing the struggling Pirates.Source: Matt Gelb
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Correa Goes on Seven-Day Concussion Injured List
Carlos Correa (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday, according to The Atheltic's Dan Hayes. Correa collided with outfielder Byron Buxton, who is in the league's concussion protocol, in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. The 30-year-old was not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers and will now sit out for an additional seven days, if not longer, depending on how he progresses through the league's protocols for head injuries. The earliest he'll be able to return will be May 23. Keep Correa stashed in all fantasy leagues while he recovers. In the meantime, Brooks Lee, the eighth overall pick in 2022 out of Cal Poly, will function as Minnesota's primary shortstop. The 24-year-old switch-hitter will gain deep-league value in the short term. He enters Friday's action hitting .250 (25-for-100) with four homers and 10 RBI.Source: The Athletic - Dan Hayes
The Minnesota Twins placed shortstop Travis Bazzana Sidelined at Double-A
Travis Bazzana (oblique) is being evaluated for a "right-side flank" injury. The former first overall pick from last year's MLB Draft exited early on Wednesday and was also held out of the starting nine on Thursday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as an extended absence could close the door on a 2025 MLB debut. After being drafted out of Oregon State, Bazzana made his professional debut with High-A Lake County and posted a .238/.369/.396 slash line with seven doubles and three home runs. He has spent the entire opening month of the 2025 season with Double-A Akron and has posted a modest .252/.362/.433 line. However, over his last 14 games, he has begun to find his power swing as he has posted a .519 SLG with a .886 OPS. If he continues to perform well, he could join Triple-A in the second half of the season.Source: Paul Hoynes

Luis Garcia Jr. Activated From Paternity List
Luis Garcia Jr. off the paternity list on Friday and optioned infielder Trey Lipscomb to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. The Nationals have yet to release their starting lineup for Friday's series opener in Baltimore against the Orioles and left-hander Cade Povich, but fantasy managers should expect Garcia to be back at second base. As far as whether to start the 25-year-old left-handed hitter in DFS lineups, that will only be for the bold. Garcia is hitting just .226 (30-for-133) in his first 38 games after a breakout season in 2024. He's also really struggled against lefties, going 2-for-20 against them with no homers and three RBI in 27 plate appearances. Garcia is hitting .184 (7-for-38) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, two steals and eight strikeouts in 11 games in the month of May.Source: MASN Sports - Mark Zuckerman

Ty France Returns for Twins
Ty France (foot) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup for the red-hot Twins in Friday's series opener against the hosting Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Chad Patrick at American Family Field. France missed the last two games for the Twins after fouling a ball off his foot and suffering a contusion in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's good news for a suddenly banged-up Twins team who lost outfielders Byron Buxton (head) and Harrison Bader (groin) and shortstop Carlos Correa (head) in the last two days. The 30-year-old France has come back to Earth a bit in the month of May after a hot start and is now slashing .252/.316/.361 with three home runs, 21 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base. He has never faced Patrick in his career.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins first baseman Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton Both Out on Friday
Carlos Correa (head) and outfielder Byron Buxton (head) are both out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers after they collided chasing a pop-up in Thursday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. Although neither player has been put on the injured list, they are both in the league's concussion protocol, and it's unknown if they'll be available to play all weekend. Brooks Lee is starting at short and batting third, while DaShawn Keirsey Jr. is in center field and hitting eighth against Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick. Fantasy managers should prepare for the potential of both Correa and Buxton landing on the seven-day concussion list if they are unable to return in Milwaukee this weekend. Both Lee and Keirsey will be everyday players for Minnesota until Correa and Buxton are able to return.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins shortstop Hunter Greene to Throw a Bullpen on Saturday
Hunter Greene (groin) will throw a bullpen session on Saturday. Greene is recovering from a Grade 1 strain of his right groin on May 8 and will now proceed to throw his first bullpen in his recovery process. The hard-throwing 25-year-old could require multiple bullpen sessions before being cleared to go on a minor-league rehab assignment, so his timetable for a return is a bit unclear right now. But barring a setback, it's not out of the question that he'll be back in the Reds' starting rotation before the calendar flips to June. The former second overall pick in 2017 needs to be stashed in an injured-list spot in all fantasy formats as the team' ace. Before hurting his groin, Greene had gone 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 61 strikeouts and only eight walks in 45 2/3 innings over eight starts.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said that right-hander Ronald Acuna Jr. Picks Up Two Hits After Move to Triple-A
Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) homered in his first minor-league rehab game earlier this week at the rookie-level Florida Complex League and was immediately moved to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he went 2-for-3 with a single and a double on Thursday in his second rehab game. Although he tore his left ACL on May 26 of 2024, it doesn't seem like he'll need many more rehab games before he rejoins the Braves' lineup. He started in right field on Thursday and is scheduled to play again for Gwinnett on Friday. After that, he could go on the road with the Stripers or move his rehab to Double-A Columbus. The 27-year-old is off to a good start on his rehab assignment, but fantasy managers may not get him back until closer to the end of May as the Braves look to be cautious with the former MVP. When Acuna returns, he'll be a must-start in fantasy immediately.Source: MLB.com - Theo DeRosa
Atlanta Braves outfielder Teoscar Hernandez Likely to Need Rehab Assignment
Teoscar Hernandez (groin) will likely need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the 10-day injured list. It appears that Hernandez could embark on a rehab assignment as early as this weekend, which means that barring a setback, he could rejoin the major-league roster by the middle of next week. Fantasy managers have to be stoked about that news, as the 32-year-old veteran Dominican was near the top of the MLB leaderboards in several run-producing categories at the time of his adductor strain. In fact, he's still tied for fourth in baseball with 34 RBI and has added nine homers, a strong .315 average (41-for-130), 21 runs scored, four steals and a .933 OPS. Hernandez must be stashed in all leagues while he finishes up his rehab.Source: Dodgers Beat
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Thursday that outfielder
