Otto Lopez Activated And Starting On Friday
5 months agoMiami Marlins infielder Otto Lopez (back) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday for the start of the second half of the season and is starting at second base and batting fifth for the Fish against the visiting New York Mets and left-hander Sean Manaea. Jazz Chisholm Jr. will move back to center field and will hit leadoff. Friday will be the first game played in the month of July in the big leagues for Lopez due to a back injury that he suffered late in June. The 25-year-old Dominican infielder had played in only nine major-league games for the Toronto Blue Jays heading into this season but he's now played in a career-high 54 games for the rebuilding Marlins in 2024, hitting .252/.279/.350 with three home runs, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 175 plate appearances.
