Oswaldo Cabrera 2023 Fantasy Outlook: Super-Utility Bat Could Face Playing-Time Concerns
2 years agoNew York Yankees 23-year-old outfielder Oswaldo Cabrera made his major-league debut in 2022 and hit .247/.312/.429 with a .740 OPS, six home runs, 19 RBI, 21 runs scored and three stolen bases in 44 games. He was mostly useful to the Yankees for his defensive versatility, as he played every position on the diamond except center field, catcher and pitcher. With the Yankees re-signing superstar Aaron Judge, Cabrera will have to battle for playing time in left field with Estevan Florial, Aaron Hicks and possibly even Giancarlo Stanton at times. Because of the fact that Cabrera is unlikely to be a lineup regular on a day-to-day basis, he'll probably only be draft-worthy in AL-only leagues, but the super-utility switch-hitter certainly has some power/speed upside. He slashed .263/.317/.412 with a .728 OPS, 60 home runs, 303 RBI and 63 stolen bases in six minor-league seasons for the Yankees.
