4 years agoDetroit Tigers general manager Al Avila said that the team is hoping outfielder Nomar Mazara (abdomen) can go on a rehab assignment when Triple-A Toledo's season starts on May 4. Mazara would then rejoin the Tigers shortly after that, around May 9-10. In 12 games before his injury this season, Mazara was hitting .237/.275/.395 with an 89 OPS+, two home runs, five RBI and three runs in 40 plate appearances. Akil Baddoo and Robbie Grossman have been splitting time in left field, while Victor Reyes has benefitted from regular playing time in right field since Mazara's injury. The switch-hitting Reyes has just six hits (two doubles, one homer) in 38 at-bats over 13 games in 2021 for a .158/.179/.289 slash line.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
