There has been no evidence of progress in talks between the Players Union and the owners, so there is no realistic hope to meet the "soft" deadline of Monday, June 1, for a deal. However, the hope remains to start a shortened season on July 4 weekend, and that is still a possibility if a deal can get done in the range of June 5 to June 9. The biggest issue between the two sides is financial, as the players are adamant about not taking any further pay cuts after already agreeing to prorated salaries back in March. There will need to be around a two-week period of a spring training 2.0 for players to get back into playing shape before a season can begin. If an agreement between the two sides isn't worked out within the next week or so, there may not be a baseball season in 2020.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
