Miguel Sano Committed To Learning First Base
5 years agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano is "very motivated right now to become the best first baseman he can possibly be," according to manager Rocco Baldelli. Sano will move across the diamond to first to accommodate the team's big free-agent signing over the winter in Josh Donaldson. He will take part in all of the team's drills at first base and work individually with infield coordinator Tony Diaz. Sano worked out some at first last year and has made 31 appearances at first in his career, including 26 starts. The 26-year-old Dominican slashed .247/.346/.576 with a career-high 34 home runs and 79 RBI in 105 games and will be even more valuable in the middle rounds for his power now that he'll gain first base eligibility.
