Michael McGreevy Goes To The Cardinals In The First Round
3 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals selected UC Santa Barbara right-hander Michael McGreevy with the 18th overall pick in the 2021 MLB amateur draft on Sunday. McGreevy could have a similar trajectory to former Gaucho in Cleveland Indians starter Shane Bieber. The 6-foot-4 right-hander knows the strike zone and has always thrown a lot of strikes. He projects as a mid-rotation starter at the MLB level that could be extremely durable for the Cards and fantasy managers. McGreevy's pitches showed more velocity this year as he got a little stronger, and his fastball was up to 96 mph consistently. He also has a solid slider and a developing curveball and will occasionally mix in an average changeup.
