Mets Talking About Matt Chapman
4 years agoThe New York Mets have talked to the Oakland Athletics about trading for third baseman Matt Chapman, according to sources. The Mets have also been linked to Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez, with Chapman now emerging as a surprise candidate on the Mets radar. The 27-year-old has three years of club control and has become one of the best third baseman in the league, at least defensively. He's won two Gold Gloves in the last four seasons and had an .851 OPS with 70 homers in 338 games from 2018-20. Chapman's 2020 season ended early due to a hip injury, but he had an elite barrel rate (18 percent) and exit velocities last year. He will extremely attractive once again for fantasy managers, especially if he joins a better Mets lineup. Stay tuned.
