Matt Ryan, Falcons Offense Struggling With Man Coverage
3 years agoAtlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and the offense have struggled against man coverage this year, and it was evident in their Week 10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, when Ryan completed a career-low nine passes. Atlanta's receivers combined to catch three passes for 36 yards. Ryan is completing 60.9% of his passes against man coverage, compared to 72.4% against zone. The New England Patriots, Atlanta's Thursday night opponent, has played more man coverage on defense than all but two teams in the NFL. Despite missing almost half of the season due to personal issues, Calvin Ridley remains the team's leading receiver with 31 catches for 281 yards. And if top playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) can't play Thursday, the Falcons could be in a world of hurt.
