Matt Manning On Track For Next Start
1 year agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Matt Manning (back) is on track to make his next start after exiting his last start against the Houston Astros with what he described as a "stinger" in his lower back. He was expecting to throw his scheduled bullpen session on Monday and make his next start on Wednesday against the New York Yankees. Manning has dealt with lower-back issues on and off this year. The 25-year-old has been inconsistent in his 13 starts this year (71 innings), posting a 3.93 ERA (4.99 FIP), 1.06 WHIP, 18 walks and 45 strikeouts in his third major-league season. The Yankees aren't a bad matchup for Manning this week, but he'll also be extra risky coming off a flare-up of his ongoing back issues.
