Matt Chapman Hopes To Shake Off Poor September
5 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman will hit third against the Rays in the AL Wild Card play-in game. Chapman hit 36 home runs this season but slashed only .178/.315/.389 in September and .222 overall since the All-Star break. Despite the recent struggles, Chapman will be counted on to produce in this crucial matchup. Chapman has played well at home this season, posting a .921 OPS with 20 doubles and 21 home runs through 80 home games. He also has been dynamite when it counts, posting a 1.040 OPS in 108 at-bats with runners in scoring position. Chapman will be boom-or-bust Wednesday against the Rays.
