San Diego Padres designated hitter Matt Carpenter will take a seat for Saturday's matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB.com. The former MVP-finalist hasn't been as productive as the club had hoped, slashing .203/.316/.392 with three home runs across 30 games. With southpaw Julio Urias on the mound, it's a scheduled day off for Carpenter, who has been platooning with Nelson Cruz. It'll be Cruz who starts at DH instead, batting fifth. The 42-year-old has bounced back thus far through 26 games, posting a .272 batting average with three long balls, and has a .283 mark with a .770 OPS off of lefties, making him a solid streaming option.
