New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal (lower body) has been ruled out indefinitely. He was injured Saturday against Boston and will start an extended absence with Monday's matchup versus Pittsburgh. It's a bitter blow for the Islanders, who are battling for a playoff spot and just made a big move in the trade market by bringing in Bo Horvat from Vancouver. Barzal leads the team with 37 assists and sits second in scoring with 51 points in 58 games. The Islanders attack has also recently lost Josh Bailey (upper body) and Jean-Gabriel Pageau (upper body) to injuries. --Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
