Marcus Maye Not Expected To Reach Long-Term Deal
3 years agoThe New York Jets and safety Marcus Maye are not expected to work out a long-term contract extension before the deadline to sign franchise-tagged players this week. The Jets have not responded to Maye's last proposal, and that offer has been pulled off the table, according to sources. Negotiations went south recently when the team reportedly offered Maye a deal with a yearly value that was 20 percent less than the franchise tag salary of $10.6 million. Maye will now likely play out the 2021 season in New York before going elsewhere. Despite the rift with the Jets, the 28-year-old should remain plenty attractive in IDP formats after recording a career-high 88 tackles (52 solo), two interceptions, 11 passes defensed and two sacks in 16 games in 2020.
