Luis Severino Not Expected to Need Rehab Assignment
Luis Severino (oblique) is not expected to go on a rehab assignment before he returns from the 15-day injured list in early September. Severino, out since Aug. 6 with a strained left oblique, threw a simulated game on Wednesday and maxed out at 97 mph. The 31-year-old has gone 6-11 and stumbled to a 4.82 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 103:44 K:BB over 136 1/3 innings in 20 starts this season. However, Severino was trending upward before he went on the IL, as he managed to throw five or more innings and allow three or fewer earned runs in four straight starts.
