Kirk Cousins 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Relegated to Backup Role
Kirk Cousins signed a four-year, $180M contract with the team last offseason, but his time as Atlanta's starter lasted just 14 games. Cousins had his moments last season, but a disastrous five-game stretch with one touchdown to nine interceptions got him replaced by first-rounder Michael Penix Jr. Cousins finished the year with 3,508 passing yards, 18 passing TDs, and 16 picks. Now entering his age-37 season, Cousins will serve as Penix's backup. There has been talk about Cousins being traded throughout the offseason, but thus far there have been no suitors. Assuming he remains in Atlanta, he will only provide any fantasy value if Penix either suffers an injury or completely fails to perform. Should one of those scenarios occur and Cousins enters the lineup, he still will not be an enticing fantasy option. Despite quality weapons like Drake London, Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and more, he declined significantly over the course of last season, and he also does not provide any rushing production to compensate for a waning arm. Cousins has been taken as the QB34; he should only be considered draftable in 2QB leagues.
