Kenny Golladay A Strong Candidate For Franchise Tag
4 years agoDetroit Lions impending free-agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay is a prime candidate to be slapped with the franchise tag in the coming weeks if the two sides can't reach a long-term contract extension, along with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin. Golladay played in only five games due to injury in 2020, posting 338 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 20 receptions. But he had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in the two seasons prior, including an NFL-high 11 touchdowns in his Pro Bowl season in 2019. The 27-year-old has averaged 16.8 yards per catch in his four-year career in Detroit, which is the second-highest mark in the league since he entered the league in 2017. If healthy, Golladay has WR1 upside, but he'll be taking throws from Jared Goff instead of Matthew Stafford if he remains in Detroit in 2021 and beyond.
