Justin Verlander Suffers Rare Loss Against Tigers
5 years agoHouston Astros starter Justin Verlander pitched a complete game against his former team but suffered a rare 2-1 loss on Wednesday. Verlander (15-5) struck out 11 hitters but allowed two solo home runs as a potent Astros offense was held in check. For Verlander, this is his first loss since July 5 despite lowering his ERA to 2.77 on the season. The veteran is still having an elite season, even in defeat, and will look to get back on track early next week.
