5/10:Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak has had trouble repeating his career year of 2017, but at the least, he’s been steady (just not spectacular) in 2018. On Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners, Smoak finished 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. He’s now picked up hits in five of his last six games, but doesn’t have a multi-hit outing in any of them – and Wednesday’s double was his only extra-base hit of the bunch. He’s maintained a slash line right around .254/.362/.424 for awhile this year, which at least in the slugging department, pales in comparison to the .254/.362/.424 slash line of 2017. The home runs just haven’t been there for Smoak this season, as evidenced by hits 10.5% HR/FB (2017’s was 19.7%). If he can find his power stroke, he’ll be good to go – until that point though, Smoak will likely continue to provide decent-but-not-amazing production.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller
