Josh Smith Starting on Friday
Josh Smith (hamstring) is back in action on Friday evening when the Rangers begin a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Smith was dealing with a hamstring injury over the past three games. However, he was able to avoid a stint on the IL and make a relatively quick return. Before his injury, Smith was on a seven-game hitting streak. During this impressive stretch, Smith posted a .419/.486/.742 slash line with four doubles, two home runs, and a 4:4 K:BB. Through 63 games this season, the 27-year-old is on pace to enjoy a career season, holding a .288/.357/.443 line with seven home runs and eight stolen bases. This evening, Smith is slated to bat at the top of the order and serve as the DH. He is a viable play in DFS facing Pittsburgh right-hander Mike Burrows.
