Jose Urena Resumes Throwing
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jose Urena (groin) has resumed throwing flat-round sessions, although he's not ready to start throwing off the slope of a mound just yet. Urena initially landed on the injured list on July 17 with tightness in his right groin, and he's coming along slowly in his rehab. The 29-year-old right-hander could be ready to return to Detroit sometime later next month, but fantasy managers shouldn't be in a rush to pick him up, even in deeper leagues. Urena was sporting a rough 6.19 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 52/37 K/BB in 80 innings over his 17 starts before landing on the injured list. There's also no guarantee that Urena will immediately return to Detroit's starting rotation after the way he pitched before his injury.
