Jordan Montgomery To Start ALCS Game 1
1 year agoThe Texas Rangers will give the ball to left-hander Jordan Montgomery in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday in Houston against the Astros. Montgomery has had one stellar outing and one bad outing so far in his two starts this postseason. He tossed seven shutout innings with no walks and five strikeouts in Game 1 of the wild-card series to get the win over the Tampa Bay Rays, but then he surrendered five runs (four earned) in four innings for a no-decision in Game 2 of the Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles. The 30-year-old southpaw has mostly been good in his four career playoff outings with a 2.55 ERA. In his lone start against the Astros in 2023 while with the St. Louis Cardinals on June 27, Montgomery got the win, giving up just two runs (one earned) while walking one and fanning six in 6 2/3 innings.
