Joey Gallo Not Likely To Be Dealt?
3 years agoTexas Rangers All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo has a robust trade market -- the San Diego Padres and others -- but some rival executives don't see him as very likely to be dealt at the trade deadline next week. Gallo still has another year before he's eligible for free agency, and the Rangers have tried in the past to give him an extension. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger has premier power and would be a nice addition to any contending team. The two-time All-Star won't help fantasy managers with a ton of average (.230), but he takes plenty of walks (league-high 72) and gets on base often (.388 on-base percentage). And the power obviously plays up big time with 24 home runs and 52 RBI in 366 plate appearances. Gallo would have more opportunities to drive in runs if he was traded to a contender, but it remains to be seen if that'll actually happen.
