Joe Burrow Expected To Be Top Rookie QB
4 years agoCincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick of the draft, is projected to be the most productive rookie signal-caller in 2020, per NFL Network's Cynthia Frelund. Cincy's shaky offensive line could pose problems for Burrow in his first year. The good news is that Burrow threw 17 touchdowns and only one interception while completing 66.4 percent of his passes at 11.4 yards per attempt under pressure in 2019, per Pro Football Focus. Andy Dalton had an 82.3 passer rating when he wasn't under pressure last year, the lowest mark in the NFL among qualified passers. Burrow threw 16 TDs on tight-window throws last year at LSU, with a 47.6 completion percentage at 8.8 yards per attempt. Expect the Bengals to use a lot of play-action passes in Burrow's rookie season after the Heisman Trophy winner had a 150.3 passer rating off play-action last year and a 74.1 completion percentage. He's expected to start right away for the Bengals, which makes him the obvious choice for most productive rookie QB this year. Burrow will have plenty of aerial weapons to choose from, making him a low-end QB2 in two-quarterback redraft leagues. He should be the first pick in dynasty/keeper formats.
