New York Mets outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce has been placed on the paternity leave list. He’ll miss this weekend’s series in Philadelphia against the Phillies but should return early next week when the Toronto Blue Jays come to town. The Mets recalled first baseman Dominic Smith on Friday, but the biggest beneficiaries of Bruce’s absence figure to be outfielders Brandon Nimmo and Juan Lagares while Adrian Gonzalez sticks at first base. Nimmo could be worth a play in DFS formats due to his penchant to simply get on base, while Lagares likely won’t do much.--John Smith
