J.T. Realmuto To Get X-Ray At The End Of The Week
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (thumb) will receive an X-ray at the end of the week to determine if he can remove the cast on his broken thumb, according to manager Joe Girardi. While Realmuto hopes to be ready by Opening Day, there's still a chance that he'll need to miss the start of the regular season. He's been catching bullpens for the past week, and fantasy managers would certainly be even more optimistic if he's allowed to have his cast removed later this week. Despite his right thumb injury, Realmuto remains in a tier all to himself at the thin catcher position in fantasy. The soon-to-be 30-year-old hit .266/.349/.491 with an .840 OPS, 11 home runs, 32 RBI and even four stolen bases in the shortened 2020 season. The two-time All-Star managed a career-high 25 homers and 83 RBI in his last full season in 2019.
