St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect J.J. Wetherholt went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday. Entering this game, Wetherholt was in a bit of a slump, holding a modest .176/.333/.294 slash line with just one double and a home run. The 22-year-old joined the St. Louis system after being selected with the seventh overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of West Virginia. After the draft last season, the Cardinals moved Wetherholt to Low-A, where he made his professional debut. Through 29 games, the infielder held a .295/.405/.400 slash line with five doubles and two home runs. This strong play earned him a ticket to open the 2025 campaign with Double-A. Through 62 total games with Double-A, Wetherholt has held an impressive .300/.425/.466 line. Fantasy managers should expect Wetherholt to be in the mix to join Triple-A later this summer.--Andy Smith
