Ian Desmond Snags Golden Sombrero
7 years agoColorado Rockies first baseman/outfielder Ian Desmond was saddled with a golden sombrero in the final game against the Angels on Wednesday. Desmond struck out four times in four at-bats as the Rockies fell by a score of eight to nothing. He was booed by the hometown fans because he also left six runners on base. It was his first time striking out four times in a game since 2015, and it meant that he went 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts while the Angels were in town for just two games. Desmond has been bad everywhere, but he’s been absolutely atrocious at home this season. He’s now hitting .125 with one home run and 18 strikeouts at Coors in 2018. He’s shown flashes like he might come out of the funk, but for now, Desmond should not be owned in most leagues.
