On Monday, Colorado Rockies first baseman/outfielder Ian Desmond got his first chance to lead off in years. Unfortunately, he went 0-for-5 and left five runners on in the game. He was slotted into the leadoff spot because he’s hit well against lefties this year, but he only ended up facing a lefty in three of the at-bats anyway. Desmond is now hitting just .178 on the season, but his ridiculously low BABIP of .197 helps indicate that his batting average should at least get over the Mendoza line sometime in the near future.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
