Ian Anderson To Have Tommy John Surgery
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Ian Anderson (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery, according to sources. Anderson began the year at Triple-A Gwinnett after a rough 2022 season, and he struggled in his first start in the minors before being diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow. He'll miss the rest of the 2023 season but is expected to return in 2024. Fantasy managers should expect Anderson to at least miss the start of next season, though, and after last year's disappointing performance, his fantasy value is obviously way down now. The 24-year-old posted a 5.00 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 97 strikeouts and 54 walks in 22 starts over 111 2/3 innings for the Braves last year. He can be dropped in all single-year fantasy leagues now.
