Eagles Want D'Andre Swift To Be Their Backfield Leader?
1 year agoThe Athletic's Bo Wulf writes that the odds are that the Philadelphia Eagles want running back D'Andre Swift to end up being the lead man in the backfield given their investment in him, his explosiveness and the need for a pass-catching back to emerge. But Swift has had issues grabbing ahold of the No. 1 job in the past and has battled injuries. Kenneth Gainwell is the most reliable option and took most of the first-team snaps during training camp. Rashaad Penny, meanwhile, has been the most efficient RB in the NFL the last two seasons when he's been healthy, but he's an extreme injury risk. Whoever seizes the lead-back role in the most RB-friendly offense in the league will have a huge opportunity in 2023. The 24-year-old Swift seems like the best fantasy bet right now, but this could be a frustrating three-headed monster committee situation.
