Eagles Re-Engage Zach Ertz In Contract Talks
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles have re-engaged on contract talks with tight end Zach Ertz. The timing makes sense after two stars (George Kittle, Travis Kelce) at the position recently got paid. Ertz's stats put him on a historic pace, as he has more yards (5,743) and catches (525) than Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez had through his first seven seasons. The two sides hadn't talked for several months, but things are heating up as we approach the regular season. Ertz has two years left on the five-year pact he signed in 2016. Even though he's slowed down a bit in recent years, the 29-year-old had an NFL-record 116 catches for tight ends in 2018. But the emergence of Dallas Goedert in Philly no longer makes Ertz worth reaching for in the early rounds as the cream of the crop at the position. He's still considered a top-five fantasy tight end, though.
