DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery Ruled Out For Week 5
4 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receivers DeSean Jackson (hamstring) and Alshon Jeffery (foot) have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Steelers. Cornerback Avonte Maddox (ankle) is also out. With rookie Jalen Reagor (thumb) and Dallas Goedert (ankle) on Injured Reserve, the Eagles are really hurting for pass-catchers. Greg Ward Jr. and rookie John Hightower figure to be the team's top two wideouts this Sunday, making quarterback Carson Wentz an easy fade as a QB1. Pittsburgh has actually allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to receivers in three games, but there's just not much to like here with Philly and their out-of-sync offense. At best, Ward is a flex consideration in deeper leagues, but the bar shouldn't be set very high. Jeffery is getting closer to making his season debut, while the oft-injured D-Jax is heading in the opposite direction, missing the last two games. Jackson can be dropped in standard-sized leagues.
