Daulton Varsho Resumes Baseball Activities, Not Running Yet
Daulton Varsho (hamstring) has resumed baseball activities, including hitting in the batting cages and playing catch at the team's facility in Dunedin, Florida. The activity does not include running, though. The 28-year-old is being evaluated on a week-to-week basis, and at this point, it would be a stretch to see him come off the IL when first eligible on June 11. The left-handed slugger was hitting just .208 before the injury and logged only 100 plate appearances thus far because of coming off the IL in late April as a result of a separate injury, but with his power upside, there's reason to stash the six-year pro. Varsho blasted eight home runs on the back of a 17.2 percent barrel rate before suffering the hamstring strain, and hit as many as 27 home runs back in 2022, along with double-digit steals in three straight seasons.
